Rad Power RadExpand 5 lighter folding electric bike has up to 72 km range
The Rad Power RadExpand 5 electric bicycle is the company's fifth generation folding e-bike. The company claims that this pedelec is 2 kg (~5 lbs) lighter than its predecessor, with a 6061 aluminum frame. The bike weighs 28 kg (~62 lbs) in total, making it easier to transport. Other upgrades to the model include fatter tires and adjustable handlebars to allow you to customize your seating position.
A 672 Wh battery, which weighs 3 kg (~7 lbs), provides up to 72 km (~45 miles) range. The RadExpand 5 has a 250 W hub motor capable of helping you to reach speeds up to 32 kph (~20 mph), with a low-profile cadence sensing pedal assist and a half twist power assist throttle. The vehicle is equipped with seven gears and a MicroShift TS71-7 shift lever. Plus, mechanical disc brakes are fitted to both the front and rear wheels.
The bike has a rear rack capable of supporting 25 kg (~55 lbs), and overall the bike has a 125 kg (~276 lbs) payload. LED lights are installed as standard to help you to see and be seen. Optional accessories you can buy from Rad Power include a rearview mirror, a front-mounted basket and a phone mount. The Rad Power RadExpand 5 electric bike is available in European countries, such as the UK, Netherlands, France and Italy, for €1,499 (~US$1,525) in white; the model in black is currently out of stock.
