The Renault Hippie Caviar Motel concept has been teased, a successor to the Hippie Caviar Hotel concept unveiled last year. The Motel is an all-electric vehicle based on the Kangoo Van L2, with a 90 kW 120 hp motor. The EV is equipped with a 45 kWh lithium-ion battery providing up to 177 miles (~285 km) of range on a single charge. Plus, with a 30 minutes charge using an 80 kW DC charge, you can boost your range by up to 106 miles.
The campervan is fitted with a heat pump, enabling a remarkably energy-efficient programmable heating system which does not significantly impact the possible driving range. Another comfort feature is a heated steering wheel. Inside the Hippie Caviar Motel is seating that you can transform into a bed, with a large amount of storage space for your luggage. The electric van has a glass ‘moonroof’, which Renault suggests you can use to stargaze.
An additional storage pouch sits on the outside of the van, and a ski rack sits on the roof. The wide sliding side door is the same one used in the Kangoo Van L2, measuring 830 mm (~32.7-in). It is unclear whether or when Renault could launch the Hippie Caviar Motel or how much it would cost. If a production model of the campervan were to be released, it would rival the upcoming Volkswagen ID. Buzz, which is expected to retail from £57,115 (~US$67,531).
