Volvo Embla render pictures show the electric XC90 successor
Just like the well-known German automakers Volkswagen, Audi and BMW, the Swedish competitor Volvo is also working on several brand-new electric cars, one of which could potentially serve as the successor or electric alternative to the successful mid-size SUV Volvo XC90.
The talented graphic designers at Motor1 have now created beautiful render pictures of the so-called Volvo Embla, which might be based on the "Recharge" concept car. The corresponding official concept pictures, which are embedded below this article for comparison, were already revealed last summer, but these new render images now show how the actual production model of the electric counterpart to the Volvo XC90 could possibly look like.
In comparison to Volvo's "Concept Recharge", these renders include the probably still necessary door handles as well as additional black trim elements, which makes the Volvo Embla look ready for production. In combination with the beautiful metallic blue paint job, a giant glass sunroof and the hammer-shaped headlights, the SUV looks like a worthy electric follow-up to the Volvo XC90.
Unfortunately, it remains unclear on which platform the Volvo Embla is based, which also means that the technical specifications of the upcoming electric SUV are still unknown. However, the Swedish EV is said to be equipped with a lidar sensor that could power its autonomous driving functionalities, while the battery is rumored to be produced by Northvolt. We will report on the remaining technical details about the upcoming electric Volvo XC90 successor as soon as they become available.
