OnePlus Nord Smartwatch: Low-cost wearable to be launched in India sometime in H2, 2022 ^↺

Over the last few release cycles, OnePlus has made it abundantly clear that Nord-branded products are here to stay. So far, it has been limited to just smartphones, with the "Nord" tag suggesting that the SKU in question is budget-oriented. A new leak from 91mobiles indicates that it wants to make a whole ecosystem out of it, starting with a smartwatch and TWS earbuds.

The report says that the OnePlus Nord Smartwatch is in the pipeline for an H2, 2022 launch, presumably alongside the OnePlus Nord 3. Information about innards are scant, but it is slated to cost lower than INR 8,000 (US$105), nearly half of what the full-fat OnePlus Watch costs in India (INR 14,999/US$197). Given its price tag, it is likely a cut-down version of the latter.

While many will welcome the arrival of an affordable wearable from OnePlus, the Nord Smartwatch has some stiff competition in that price bracket. Besides, it faces an uphill battle to live up to the hype, especially when the original OnePlus Watch fell short of expectations. OnePlus' brand reputation has also taken a hit in India, thanks to the spate of battery-related incidents.
