OnePlus Band 2 and OnePlus Watch 2 purportedly in production
The noted leaker Mukul Sharma has indicated that the OnePlus Band 2 and OnePlus Watch 2 are currently in production. Apparently, production is ongoing in both Europe and Asia, which means specs leaks should start appearing soon. The first OnePlus Band was released in January 2021, while the OnePlus Watch was launched in March of last year, so the time is right for the Chinese OEM to release their next-gen iterations.
The likely much cheaper OnePlus Band 2 will have to improve on its predecessor, which offered a 1.1-inch AMOLED panel and came with features such as an SpO2 sensor and a long 14-day battery life. With a launch price of ₹2,799 (US$37), the OnePlus Band delivered a lot of bang for the buck, so the Band 2 will have a steep hill to climb to surpass the first iteration while also keeping a low purchase price.
As for the OnePlus Watch 2, this should be more of a premium product and will hopefully improve on the first watch’s software issues. The OnePlus Watch cost around US$159 at launch, and it came with a 1.39-inch AMOLED, stress detection and SpO2 monitors, and a built-in GPS. Hopefully, the OnePlus Watch 2 will include an always-on display from the get-go and a software package that has been thoroughly quality tested.
