MediaTek recently announced the Dimensity 8100 SoC, and we already know that upcoming phones such as the Xiaomi Redmi K50 series and Realme GT Neo 3 will feature this new SoC. OnePlus announced that it, too, will introduce a Dimensity 8100-powered phone, but didn't divulge much information. Now, we are getting to know that this phone could actually be the Nord 3.
Known leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS), in a Weibo post, seems to have leaked the Nord 3's specifications. According to DCS, the OnePlus Nord 3 will have a 6.7-inch FHD+ flat AMOLED display made by BOE along with a single punch-hole camera at the top center. The display will likely be a 120 Hz panel with support for HDR10+. The Nord 3 will likely sport up to 12 GB LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
DCS also claims that the Nord 3 will offer a 16 MP front camera and a Sony IMX766-based 50 MP rear shooter with an f/1.88 lens alongside 8 MP (possibly ultrawide) and 2 MP sensors. The Nord 3 would be powered by a 4,500 mAh battery with 150 W superfast charging. An in-display optical fingerprint reader provides biometric authentication. The phone is also expected to feature an X-axis linear haptic motor for an enhanced gaming experience.
If the above specs are true, the Nord 3 will directly take on the Realme GT Neo 3, which is also touted to offer the Dimensity 8100 SoC and 150 W fast charging. The camera setup, display, and battery are expected to be identical as well, so pricing will be a major factor that will tilt the scales in favor of either smartphone when they launch in Q2 2022.
