Dimensity 8100 vs Snapdragon 888 vs Snapdragon 870: The Mali G610-MC6 betters the Adreno 660 in GPU tests
A while ago, CPU benchmarks of the new Dimensity 8100 were revealed in comparison to the Snapdragon 888 and Snapdragon 870. The MediaTek chipset mostly dominated those tests, both in efficiency and raw performance. Early benchmark numbers for the Dimensity 8100's Mali G610-MC6 GPU are out as well.
On GFXBench's 1440p OpenGL 3.1 test, the Dimensity 8100 and Snapdragon 888 trade punches rather well, with frame rates of 28 fps and 29 fps respectively. The Snapdragon 870 sits behind at 22 fps, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is a whole level above at 43 fps. The Dimensity 8100 shines in efficiency again, as it consumes just 6.0 W versus the Snapdragon 888's 9.0 W. Those numbers translate into 50% better efficiency than the Snapdragon chipset.
The Dimensity 8100 doesn't appear to have the throttling issues of the recent premium chipsets either, as it records 99.6% stability in 3DMark's Wild Life Extreme Test. The Snapdragon 888 sits at 85.2%, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 offers a disappointing 66.8%. The Snapdragon 870 comes in second at 90.3% but severely lacks the brawn of the Dimensity 8100.
It's important to note that both these and the CPU benchmarks were run on a prototype machine. The Redmi K50 series will debut with the Dimensity 8100 today, however, so it won't be long until more concrete benchmarks are available.
