Synthetic benchmarks for the Dimensity 8100-powered Redmi K50 posit the MediaTek chipset as a ridiculously efficient chipset with performance on par with the Snapdragon 888. Those numbers carry over to the real world, too, as the Redmi K50 flat-out looks to be a more capable chipset than even the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
The Redmi K50 averages a framerate of 59.5 FPS in the Apex Legends Mobile test, edging out the M1-powered iPad Air 5 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered Galaxy S22 Ultra at 59.4 FPS and 57.4 FPS respectively. Both of those chipsets typically deliver considerably better peak performance but the Dimensity 8100 looks to be unrivaled at sustained performance.
The efficiency gap surprises even more, as the Redmi K50 and Dimensity 8100 pair is over 100% more efficient than the iPad Air 5, and about 80% more efficient than the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Redmi K50 remains cool as well, at 39.2°, versus 44.2° and 44.8° on the iPad and S22 Ultra respectively.
It's satisfying to see the Dimensity 8100's stellar benchmark performances translate directly to real-world gaming situations. The Dimensity 8100, from all indications, is a gem of a chipset—performance-wise anyway. The upcoming Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 already has its work cut out.
