MediaTek Dimensity 1300 introduced with a 6 nm design, up to 3 GHz clock speeds and support for 200 MP cameras
MediaTek has showcased the Dimensity 1300, a successor to last year's Dimensity 1200. Based on MediaTek's specifications, the Dimensity 1300 features the same CPU and GPU cores as its predecessor but on a smaller manufacturing process. Specifically, the Dimensity 1300 relies on a 6 nm process, 1 nm smaller than the Dimensity 1200.
However, the three CPU clusters from the Dimensity 1200 remain, with an 'Ultra Core' ARM Cortex-A78 clocked at 3 GHz, followed by another three 'Super Cores', also Cortex-A78 running at up to 2.6 GHz. Likewise, the Dimensity 1300 has four 'Efficiency' Cortex-A55 cores that can reach 2 GHz and a Mali-G77 MP9, a GPU found in the Dimensity 1200 too. Also, the Dimensity 1300 supports up to 2,520 x 1,080-pixel displays, matching its predecessor.
The newer SoC supports up to 168 Hz refresh rates though, 24 Hz higher than the Dimensity 1200. Additionally, the Dimensity 1300 is compatible with UFS 3.1 flash storage, compared to the UFS 2.2 that the Dimensity 1200 manages. Moreover, the Dimensity 1300 supports the newer Bluetooth 5.2 standard and up to 200 MP cameras. MediaTek has not confirmed when the Dimensity 1300 will begin shipping, but the SoC is expected to launch with the OnePlus Nord 2T. You can find more details about the Dimensity 1300 on MediaTek's website.
