Axon 40 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra compared in hands-on pictures as ZTE confirms global launch window
ZTE has only just announced the Axon 40 Ultra, but @UniverseIce has already got their hands on the device. As the leaker claimed previously, the Axon 40 Ultra is the spitting image of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung's latest flagship smartphone. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra succeeds the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is more of a return to the design championed by the Galaxy Note series, such as the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.
Fundamentally, the Axon 40 Ultra and Galaxy S22 Ultra are difficult to tell apart, with their large curved displays tapering into boxy chassis. Seemingly, both have comparable display bezels as well, although ZTE has gone a step further than Samsung by including an under-panel camera (UPC). The Axon 40 Ultra is not a true Galaxy S22 Ultra alternative though, considering it lacks a built-in pen and lacks active stylus support in all forms.
As Pocket-lint reports, ZTE hopes to launch the Axon 40 Ultra globally too. Supposedly, the Axon 40 Ultra will be available outside China as soon as next month, but ZTE has not offered any further details yet. For reference, the Axon 40 Ultra starts at CNY 4,988 (~US$748) in China and rises to CNY 7,298 (~US$1,095) with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage.
Unfortunately, Chinese prices rarely convert directly into other currencies, as the launch of the Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro have shown. Hence, it seems probable that the Axon 40 Ultra will be considerably more expensive in other markets than in China.
