The OnePlus Watch has been received poorly so far, as we have covered previously. In fairness to OnePlus, it has already released a software update to the device that it claims addresses many issues. The update should now have reached devices outside of Canada and the US, and includes the following changes:
- Improved GPS performance
- Improved accuracy of activity tracking (walking and running)
- Optimized heart rate monitoring algorithm
- Enabled notification app icons for the most frequently used apps
- Improved raise-to-wake function
- Optimized notification syncing algorithm
- Fixed some known bugs
- Improved system stability
We should stress that the OnePlus Watch remains without many of the features that OnePlus advertised it as having. For example, the smartwatch lacks its full complement of workout modes, which OnePlus claims will be over 110. According to OnePlus, it will add these features in 'future OTAs':
- Add Always-on Display feature
- Add remote camera control of Android smartphones (Android phones running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and above) from OnePlus Watch
- Add 12-hour time format
- Add 4 languages: German, Italian, Spanish, and Polish
- Enable all 110+ workout modes
- Enable AI watch face
- Improve sleep tracking accuracy
OnePlus is yet to state when it will add all these features, although it will enable all '110+ workouts types' in the May 2021 OTA. Additionally, it claims that it will bring more features than the ones shown above; however, not including a 12-hour time format is pretty basic stuff, in our opinion. If you are interested in the OnePlus Watch, then it will be available to order from April 28.
