OnePlus 9 Pro: This is how fast the new smartphone charges
Having a large battery in a smartphone is all well and good, but it's annoying when it takes forever to recharge the battery. For many phone generations, OnePlus has relied on comparatively bulky chargers that contain most of the charging technology. This allows charging with much higher power without overheating the smartphone.
With the OnePlus 9 Pro, the manufacturer takes this a step further: The OnePlus 8T already had two battery cells that could be charged at up to 65 watts, but wireless charging has been improved even further this time. With a special wireless charger, which OnePlus offers for 70 Euros (~$82), both battery cells can be charged simultaneously, and the smartphone achieves a charging speed of up to 50 watts when topping up the battery wirelessly.
The manufacturer specifies charging times of 43 minutes for a full charge in wireless mode and 29 minutes using the power adapter. Needless to say, we examined these rates in our review of the OnePlus 9 Pro, and we can confirm them. In addition, the smartphone replenishes 10% or 20% of the battery charge in a few minutes, so that you can be mobile again for a few hours even when charging only for a short time.
OnePlus has also improved battery life once again: The OnePlus 9 Pro reaches 16:42 hours in our Wi-Fi test.
Another new feature is the cooperation with the Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad, which is meant to improve photo quality. However, the cooperation is still limited to software for now, and the OnePlus 9 Pro delivers a very good picture quality in our review, but it still lacks a bit of accuracy in details compared with high-end smartphones that are even more expensive.
The price of the OnePlus 9 Pro is once again below 1,000 Euros (~$1,172), and it offers a lot that even more expensive phones can do in return. If you want to learn more about the smartphone, we recommend our detailed review of the OnePlus 9 Pro.
