The OnePlus 9 proves to be a successful high-end smartphone in our review, and it convinces with a very nice OLED display, good battery life, appealing connectivity (USB 3.1, wireless charging,...), and very smooth performance. Compared with the OnePlus 8T, the entry into the 2021 models now costs 100 Euros (~$118) more. However, the OnePlus 9 still doesn't have an IP rating, and we found more than just improvements in direct comparison with the predecessor.

Compared with the Xiaomi Mi 11, the OnePlus 9 still offers a strong overall package and will probably be the better smartphone for most users, although personal preferences can certainly lead to a different result. The Xiaomi smartphone feels thinner and easier to handle due to its more curved back, and it also scores points with the brighter and sharper 1440p panel in terms of the display. We also see slight advantages for the Xiaomi Mi 11 when it comes to the speakers.
But especially in terms of battery life, the OnePlus 9 is in a different league with over 14 hours in our Wi-Fi test with an adjusted display brightness of 150 cd/m². OnePlus also handles heat development and the reliability of the fingerprint sensor better. A detailed camera comparison between the OnePlus 9 and the Xiaomi Mi 11, in which the installed camera modules and the photos taken are analyzed in more detail, will follow soon.
