OnePlus unveiled its latest 9 Pro flagship smartphone in Morning Mist, Pine Green and Stellar Black colorways. The OEM claims to have selected and developed the shades out of inspiration by "nature", although there is little doubt that they are on-trend in 2021. However, Max Jambor now claims that the phones might have gone more of their own way at one point.
The often knowledgeable and usually OnePlus-focused tipster has shared renders showing that early 9 Pro prototypes might have been finished in Matte White, which would have been a considerable departure from the OEM's typical choices over the last couple of years.
Those who might now regret the absence of this option might be less sorry about the alleged rejection of another potential 9 Pro color: Glossy Black. It might have been matched by the light green and silver shades with the same finish also shown in the debranded concept images on the vanilla 9.
However, this phone turned out in Astral Black, Winter Mist (purple) and Arctic Sky (blue) instead. In other news, the blog OnePlusRadar has pointed out the OEM has once again issued a limited-time discount code (SPRING8PRO100) that reduces the year-old, yet still serviceable, 8 Pro to just US$599 in price.
