Early reviews of the OnePlus Watch show overwhelming disappointment at OnePlus' debut smartwatch
OnePlus released the OnePlus Watch as its first attempt at capturing some much-needed market share in the smartwatch segment from usual stalwarts Apple, Huawei, and Samsung. That attempt appears to have fallen flat on its face, though, if early reviews of the OnePlus Watch are anything to go by.
The new OnePlus Watch has made the trip to the hands of reviewers across the globe. The verdict is almost unanimous: The OnePlus Watch is an awful product. Some of the hardest hitting review headlines read thus:
This Is the Worst Smartwatch I've Ever Used
- Gizmodo
OnePlus Watch Review: You Get What You Pay For
- Michael Fisher
OnePlus Watch Review: Big, Basic, and Boring
- The Verge
OnePlus Watch Review: Bringing a Knife To a Gunfight
- Android Authority
Criticism for the OnePlus Watch looks to be consistent, too. Most reviews highlight inaccurate tracking and lackluster software features, with the former making the device virtually useless. On the flip side, though, most reviews agree that the OnePlus Watch offers good battery life and a nice, unoffensive design. Sadly, that doesn't count for much if the same review has this to say about the wearable:
When I sat down to write this review, I wondered if it was too harsh to call this the worst smartwatch ever made. After all, it could at the very least deliver notifications. My wrist then buzzed with the fury of a thousand angry bees as I simultaneously got 40 notifications for emails that were sent four hours earlier. It’s impossible to overstate how bad this smartwatch is at its job.

Damning words, indeed.
