Huawei has started distributing a new update to the Watch GT 2 (version 1.0.12.12). The smartwatch's April 2021 update is a 24.22 MB download, so it should not take long to install on your device. Currently, we only know of version 1.0.12.12 reaching devices in Germany, but we expect Huawei to distribute the update across more regions, too.
According to the changelog published by Huawei Blog, it is now possible to download new watch faces with the iOS version of the Huawei Health app and send these to your Watch GT 2. Previously, Huawei reserved this functionality for the Health app on Android, despite having already enabled it for the Watch GT 2 Pro on the iOS app.
Additionally, version 1.0.12.12 refines the built-in weather app. Not only does the update revise the weather app's design, but it also allows it to display information about sunrises, sunsets, moon phases and tides. Moreover, the barometer can now display a warning about bad weather. Incidentally, Huawei has added the ability to view your cadence when using a cross-trainer.
The Watch GT 2's update can be triggered via the Huawei Health app. However, your smartwatch must have at least 20% charge and needs to be paired to your smartphone before the update can commence.
