OnePlus has been one of the darlings of the tech industry over the past few years with its smartphones often garnering very positive reviews. However, this was most definitely not the case with the recent launch of its highly anticipated OnePlus Watch, the first smartwatch from the company. Although it is competitively priced, most reviews (including ours) have been critical of its performance and glitchy RTOS operating system.
On the positive side, OnePlus has been working hard to address a number of these issues with quite frequent updates since its launch, suggesting that it might have been better off postponing the launch. But, ‘it is what it is’ as the saying goes and the latest OnePlus update now gives users the option to enable an always-on display mode. However, the company warns that this will come at the cost of up to a whopping 50 percent of its battery life taking it down from two weeks to one week on a charge.
This is not all that comes with the latest patch. Also included is a handy remote control camera function and a new Marathon workout mode. Other general improvements include optimization of “system UI details” along with fixes for unspecified, but “known issues”, and better stability. The company is encouraging customers to provide feedback following the upgrade which shows that it is keen to get things right with Watch as soon as possible.
