Suunto presents the Suunto 9 Peak, an ultra-thin and robust smartwatch
It has only been a few months since Suunto announced the 9 Baro Titanium, a variant of its high-quality sports smartwatch. However, the company has now released the Suunto 9 Peak, which will be available in several colours and two materials. The Suunto 9 Peak runs a proprietary OS, rather than Wear OS, for reference.
According to Suunto, its new smartwatch supports over 80 sports modes, intelligent battery modes and can monitor blood oxygen levels. Additionally, the Suunto 9 Peak has built-in GPS navigation, a heart-rate monitor, a sleep monitor and is water-resistant to 100 metres. The smartwatch supports wrist gestures too and has an ambient light sensor for adjusting its display's brightness.
Suunto claims that the 9 Peak is 37% thinner and 36% lighter than its predecessor, although it still weighs 52 g. All models come with a Sapphire crystal watch face, but Suunto offers Grade 5 titanium or stainless for the smartwatch's bezel and case. The latter retails for US$569, while the former comes in at US$699. Suunto will begin shipping pre-orders on June 17.
