OnePlus has contributed to what is already an action-packed day for the mobile device market by releasing its new 9 flagship series in China. It has announced that the 2 phones combined raked in 300 million yuan (nearly US$46 million) in the first 10 seconds of this event. This performance outdoes that of the 8 series this time last year by a considerable margin.

Xiaomi may have drawn a lot of today's techie attention with the second half of its 2021 product mega-launch today. However, that did not dissuade a rival in this space, OnePlus, from going ahead with the release of its new 9 and 9 Pro smartphones in the same country on the same day.

The OEM has announced that it has already netted the equivalent of ~US$45.6 million as a result of this event. Moreover, it asserts that the Hasselblad-branded devices took only 10 seconds to reach this milestpreone. For context, their predecessors the 8 and 8 Pro reportedly took 1 minute to hit 100 million yuan (~$15 million) in revenue on their own first day on the Chinese market.

OnePlus also released its first-gen Watch today in its home market (whereas it is slated for releases in April 2021 for various other regions). It costs 999 yuan (~$153, whereas the vanilla 9 phone starts at 3,799 yuan  ($582), with the 9 Pro goes for 4,999 yuan ($766) at least. Meanwhile, their global open sales are still scheduled to begin from tomorrow (March 31, 2021).
