OnePlus' launch of the Nord CE 2 is slated to exceed expectations
OnePlus has just affirmed one or two leaks pointing to the launch of an immediate successor for the Nord CE soon. It is now slated to launch as the "CE 2" (or Core Edition 2, rather than the CE2 as a recent alleged teaser for the device suggested), according to the BBK Electronics brand's latest new homepages and emails.
The new teasers also offer a glimpse of the upcoming mid-ranger's design, thereby revealing the same up-to-date camera hump shown in earlier leaks. OnePlus has yet to hint at the capabilities of either of the four circles shown, although they are said to top out at 64MP rather than a more modern 50MP.
Similarly, the company has yet to hint at the CE 2's internals; then again, it is now confirmed as a 5G phone, at least. However, it has already revealed that it will be the first non-flagship to launch with SuperVOOC charging, rather than OnePlus' erstwhile own-brand Warp Charge.
This "Double Feature" launch will thus hammer the switch away from the more individual naming scheme for power accessories at OnePlus home. Then again, the 'new' battery tech will blow the CE away by upgrading to 65W. Meanwhile, a new teaser video hints at the unexpected addition of an up-to-1TB microSD card slot, not to mention that the phone is "still jacked" - as in, it has a 3.5mm port.
Finally, OnePlus has indicated that the CE 2 is likely to be aimed at the European market again, as its launch is now scheduled in Central European time (CET), at 14:00 on February 17, 2022.
