Lotus releases beautiful pictures of its first electric SUV called the "Eletre"
We regularly report on new product reveals by different international automakers, many of which are slowly but surely dipping their toes into the booming EV business in order to capture their market share before one of the numerous competitors does. The British automaker Lotus, which is probably mostly known among motorsports fans, has now followed suit and released gorgeous pictures of its upcoming electric SUV, the Lotus Eletre.
The Lotus Eletre, which looks fairly similar to the Lamborghini Urus from certain angles, is not just the first SUV of the UK-based company, but surprisingly also its very first car with five doors. The EV is based on a new 800 volts platform and comes equipped with a sizable battery with more than 100 kWh. The electric range of the Lotus Eletre is supposed to target 373 miles per charge according to the WLTP standard, and the battery could only need 20 minutes on a 350 kW charging station in order to regain 248 miles of range in optimal conditions.
Furthermore, the all-wheel drive powertrain and its two electric motors produce 600 electric horsepower which will accelerate the sporty British SUV from 0 to 62 mph in less than three seconds, while the top speed will approach 161 mph. Passengers in the Lotus Eletre will also be able to thoroughly enjoy their music thanks to an optional 2,160 watts audio system with a total of 23 speakers. The production of the electric SUV with the fine-sounding name is scheduled to start later this year, but it is unclear if or when the Lotus Eletre will launch on international markets outside the UK and Europe.
