The 2023 Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop with a Raptor Lake Core i7-1360P CPU and a 14-inch 2.8/4K OLED display with touch. While the overall device is quite good, as shown by our review rating of 89%, the notebook offers little improvement over its predecessor and is even worse in some cases (i.e. the battery life). So, the Gen 8 Yoga 9i 14 may be hard to justify at full retail for some folks.

Fortunately, Best Buy is now selling the Lenovo Yoga 9i Gen 8 (2023) with a 2.8K OLED panel for only $999.99 instead of the $1,399.99 list rate, resulting in a massive discount of $400. Naturally, the reduced price makes Yoga 9i 14 a much better deal.

As mentioned above, the Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 got an excellent 89% rating in our review. The main contributing factors to this score were the laptop’s sturdy casing, high-quality speakers, and OLED display.

Explaining the panel a bit more, the 14-inch 2.8K screen achieved 379 nits of average brightness, a 12,600:1 contrast ratio, 98.3% AdobeRGB, and full sRGB/DCI-P3 coverage in our testing. So, aside from a visible moiré effect (grid lines appearing against bright surfaces and only visible from a short distance), the Yoga 9i Gen 8’s 90 Hz touch panel is perfectly suitable for multimedia use.

Finally, the notebook also offers plenty of performance thanks to the Core i7-1360P, manageable temps, and a battery life of around 8 hours in our Wi-Fi websurfing test.

Put simply, the 2023 Lenovo Yoga 9i 14 (Gen 8) is a machine that covers all the bases and should make for a sensible buy at the current price.
