If anyone wants to see if Volkswagen's latest in-car UX features have gotten any better, they could check it out for themselves - provided that they are at the ongoing Auto China 2024 conference in Beijing. The marque asserts that the new ID. CODE packs the latest in automotive design and AR/VR experiences.
The prototype car also boasts the latest in Volkswagen's SUV design, backed to evince "powerful, clear and fluid" GT vibes that also act as a the perfect backdrop for AI-powered lighting, which might even comprise its front badge, and even be augmented with a little status display turned outward for all the world to see.
On that note, the market-ready car based on the ID. CODE concept is also slated to support Level 4 autonomous driving (with the almost inevitable "living space" ethic for its interior that might also be enhanced with AR features), which means that it is destined for the Chinese market.
Volkswagen's e-vehicles in that country have largely been based on the in-house MEB or MQB platforms as they are elsewhere on Earth - however, the company has now also indicated that it intends to augment those offerings with the first cars based on a new, China-exclusive platform, as well as more universal options such as CMP (delivered in collaboration with local partners such as XPENG) in the future.
Those changes may or may not be implemented in the ID.UNYX, the first variant set to launch from the new ID.UX sub-brand of cars backed to bring the marque's latest exteriors, display and "HMI operating concept" to drivers that might have the priorities of younger people.
