Manufacturing tech giant Siemens has announced that it will fulfil its sustainability and carbon-neutrality resolutions by augmenting its company's portfolio of vehicles with more and more new ID.4s from Volkswagen over time. The marque hails the move as another step closer to the more complete electrification of mobility, industrial and otherwise.

The ID.4 might be best known as an electric compact SUV; however, Volkswagen also tends to market the same electric vehicle (EV) as a fleet car. Now, it has snagged a major new customer for this particular line of business.

The marque has just announced a new agreement with Siemens. It is one of one of Germany's oldest and biggest industrial entities, yet has embraced goals such as full carbon neutrality by 2030 and fleet electrification as part of its in-house DEGREE framework.

Now, it has at least partially achieved the latter by leasing up to 1,000 ID.4s from Volkswagen, choosing the car due to its "good combination of range, charging speed, trunk volume, and price", according to Siemens' Head of Global Fleet Management Stefan Kurz.

Volkswagen hypes partnerships such as these as "significant" points in favor of increasing EV adoption, as companies willing to use them in bulk demonstrates how "suitable and practical electric mobility has become for everyday use".
