Getac: The new rugged convertible notebook V200 has been introduced

The new convertible laptop by Getac is MIL-STD 810G and IP65 compliant.

Getac has recently launched the latest addition to their V-series of rugged convertible notebooks. The V200, just like its predecessor V100, can be used both as a tablet and a laptop thanks to the rotating multi-touch display. This portable PC comes with an Intel processor and video card, 88-key waterproof keyboard and a genuine copy of Windows OS.

The new Getac V200 is reportedly equipped with an Intel Core i7-620LM processor which is ranked 57 on our CPU Benchmark list. This central processing unit has 4MB of L3 cache and is clocked at 2.0GHz which can be increased up to 2.80GHz thanks to Intel’s Turbo Boost Technology.

The laptop also features an Intel graphics controller with up to 1024MB of shared memory. In addition, the V200 sports a 12.1-inch WXGA TFT display with 1200 NITs and a native resolution of 1280-by-800 pixels. Furthermore, the LED-backlit multi-touch wide screen is supposedly sunlight readable and can be used even if the consumer is wearing gloves.

As for storage, this device apparently comes with a 320GB rotating SATA hard drive (80GB SATA SSD is optional). Moreover, the notebook houses 2GB of DDR3 system memory which can be increased up to 8GB (if the laptop is powered by a 64-bit operating system).

According to the product page, there are several ways consumers can connect to the Internet and other devices as the V200 is equipped with an Ethernet adapter, an 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi module, a Bluetooth interface and a GobiTM 2000 3G antenna (optional). GPS is also optional.

In addition, this laptop features two USB 2.0, one USB 2.0/eSATA Combo, a PCMCIA, an SD card reader, an external VGA, a built-in microphone, an audio port and an integrated 2.0MP web camera (for video conferencing).

Other specs and pricing

The Getac V200 can be powered by a pre-installed copy of either Windows 7 or Windows XP Professional. It is also MIL-STD 810G and IP65 compliant and comes with an 88-key water resistant keyboard. It weighs about 2.7kg (approx. 5.95lb) which makes it quite portable and is fully rugged meaning that it can withstand extreme conditions such as heat, cold, dust, moisture, etc.

However, there is still no word on availability and pricing.
