Kwynex: Mechanical keyboard features detachable touchscreen and fingerprint reader

The Kwynex is a new mechanical keyboard equipped with an IPS touchscreen. Thanks to its detachable design, the display can be separated from the keyboard and placed on a magnetic stand, effectively functioning as a compact secondary monitor that can be customized to show whatever the user wants. On the right side, the Kwynex also features a smaller 1.5-inch display, which is likewise customizable and capable of showing a variety of information, including time, date and weather.
The keyboard connects to a host device via USB-C and includes a built-in USB 3.0 port for peripherals like a mouse or thumb drive. One feature not commonly found on keyboards is the integrated fingerprint sensor, which enables biometric authentication as an alternative to PINs and passwords. Since it uses a 75% layout, the Kwynex omits a number pad, making it a less-than-ideal option for quickly entering long strings of numbers. According to the company, both the keycaps and switches are easily swappable.
As part of a Kickstarter campaign, the Kwynex is currently available at a starting price of $369 / €320. It’s worth noting that such crowdfunding projects can carry significant financial risks for backers, who may end up empty-handed in the worst case.
