Compact PC systems that also double as tablets are slowly gaining popularity. The OmniOne is one such example, a new mobile system that can be pre-ordered at a discount as part of a crowdfunding campaign, taking into account the usual risks associated with crowdfunding. These include the possibility that the product may not make it to market or may not function as advertised. Supporters who contribute at least $359 are expected to receive the model in February 2026.
Numerous ports
The 158 x 135 mm system weighs 326 grams and is equipped with a 5.7-inch, HD touchscreen. This has a specified brightness of 400 cd/m², which means that use in bright sunlight is likely to be limited. It can be used with external displays via DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.1, even with two displays at the same time. A rather modest 16.34 Wh battery is installed, which is supposed to offer a battery life of over 5 hours at half display brightness and with wireless activated. Charging is possible at 35 watts via USB-C.
Intel APU and Windows on board
The OmniOne is powered by an Intel N150 processor, which is definitely not a powerful chip. DDR4 RAM is available in 8, 16 or 32 GB sizes, and an SSD of up to 1 TB can be connected via PCIe, making it easy to replace. A front-facing camera with a resolution of only 1 TB is specified, along with two microphones and two speakers. Network connectivity is available via both Wi-Fi 6 and Gigabit Ethernet. A keyboard with small keys and a touchpad are also included.
