The French electronics company, ARCHOS, has recently released a new series of internet tablets. The most powerful one, called 101, has a stainless steel structure and a weight of 480g (16.9oz). This device also offers Wi-Fi connectivity, HD video playback, high portability and a long battery life.

ARCHOS’s new portable PC is apparently equipped with an ARM Cortex A8 processor at its heart. The central processing unit only has one core which is clocked at 1GHz.

Moreover, the ARCHOS 101 supposedly sports a 3D OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics controller which allows customers to play 3D games on the device.

The tablet reportedly houses 8GB or 16GB of internal flash memory. This can be further increased as there is a Micro SD card slot which is also SDHC compatible.

In terms of connectivity, the new ARCHOS 101 comes with an 802.11 b/g/n wireless adapter and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR that allow users to surf the web and exchange data with other devices.

Furthermore, this tablet reportedly features integrated front VGA camera, microphone and speaker for video conferencing.

In addition, the HDMI output added to this machine is a good way to watch HD videos or play 3D games on an external TV.

Other specs, pricing and availability

The portable PC is equipped with a Lithium Polymer battery which according to the ARCHOS web site can last up to 7 hours when watching a video, up to 10 when surfing the Internet and up to 36 hours if listening to music.
