Encrypted external hard drive by Lenovo
Lenovo introduced a new external hard drive which is especially made for Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks and features a real-time encryption of the data.
Lenovo Vault HDD
The new external hard drive “Vault” by Lenovo is made for ThinkPad laptops and its purpose is to protect sensitive data. Therefore, the hard drive offers a 128-bit encryption and this encrypts data in real-time.
Furthermore, the external HDD is equipped with a numeric keypad which allows entering a code for accessing the drives data. The device gets connected to the computer by using a USB connector and it is available in two different versions. One offers a capacity of 160 GB and the other one provides 320 GB.
The hard drive “Vault” will cost $ 179 (~€ 142) or $219 (~€ 174) when it comes on the market. Its price depends on the HDD’s capacity and it will be available in mid-November.
