Verdict
Admittedly, the LG Gram's appearance remains unchanged for yet another year. Sticking to the mantra of "never change a winning formula," the Gram simply receives a hardware refresh to keep it up-to-date. Consequently, there are no updates to the display or speakers either.
The current Gram utilizes a Lunar Lake processor. While this CPU may not deliver the highest computing power, it provides a powerful iGPU and, most importantly, is highly energy-efficient. This enables the LG Gram 17 to achieve remarkable battery runtimes and low power consumption, in addition to its strong graphics performance.
Regarding size, the LG Gram 17 still holds a niche among office laptops. Few others in this category offer a large 17-inch screen. However, in comparison to its rivals, the Gram is no longer an absolute featherweight. Too many 16-inch models currently weigh slightly more than a kilogram, and Acer has even announced a 16-inch laptop that will weigh less than that. This certainly makes the competition tougher for LG's premium laptop. Nevertheless, the LG Gram 17 remains an interesting and compelling device.

Cons
Price and Availability
The new Gram 17 is priced at US$1,700 by the manufacturer in our test configuration.
Specifications
Housing & equipment
Since only minor changes have been made to the Gram's casing, we recommend taking a look at our reviews from previous years. The shift from the LG Gram 17 (2023) to the LG Gram 17 (2024) brought significantly greater changes than the current update to the '25 model.
LG did, however, adjust the feature set on the current Gram. Our test unit is missing the card reader—the slot for it is still there, but it is concealed by an internal plastic piece. Similarly, the webcam with facial recognition has been replaced by a standard Full HD webcam. Biometric logins are now handled by a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.
Fast wireless connectivity is ensured by the latest Intel BE201 module.

Sustainability
For years, the packaging for LG Gram devices has been largely plastic-free. The device is EPEAT registered, and a guide for disassembling the laptop is also available (PDF download). Unfortunately, however, we were unable to find a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) document on the manufacturer's website.
Inside the Gram, the construction is not highly modular. Nevertheless, components like the battery, speakers, and fans are not glued in place. This means they could be replaced easily.
Input Devices
The Gram 17's touchpad and keyboard remain excellent. The keyboard's shallow key travel is its most serious flaw. However, the pressure points are crisp, providing excellent tactile feedback that encourages rapid typing. The large glass touchpad has a pleasant surface and provides all the convenience expected of a multi-touch input device.
Display
LG has also made no changes to the display. As in the 2024 model, we find an LP170WQ1 panel here with 2,560 × 1,600 pixels. The panel delivers good contrast and strong color representation in the Display-P3 color space. As usual, the preset white point of the LG display is at the cooler daylight white of northern Europa and America (D75). The standard would actually be the warmer D65 white point. However, the color temperature can be adjusted in the MyGram application. Set two levels warmer, you get the D65 white point and thus hardly noticeable color deviations in our standardized test.
The biggest criticism of the new LG Gram 17's screen is and remains the poor response times. For an office laptop, the response times are sufficient. A viewing angle analysis and images in outdoor use are shown in the review of the Gram 17 from 2023. Dieser Laptop hat das gleiche Panel.

Performance
With Lunar Lake, Intel is breaking new ground in processor design. The focus here is less on multi-threading and much more on superior power efficiency. The RAM is integrated directly into the processor package with these CPUs, which limits the available memory configurations. Currently, the Gram models featuring Lunar Lake processors are only available with either the Core Ultra 7 256V or the 258V. This translates to configurations with either 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM. Our test unit utilizes the 32 GB configuration. Furthermore, various storage configurations are available on the market. Our device came equipped with two NVMe SSDs, each providing 1 TB of storage.
Testing Conditions
In the MyGram application, four different performance profiles are preconfigured. These presets range from (nearly) silent fans to high fan utilization. Nevertheless, we discovered during the stress test's noise measurements that under demanding scenarios, the "Normal" setting and the "High" cooling mode differed by only one to two dB(A). For this reason, we chose to use the strongest cooling mode for all our benchmarks and measurements.
Processor
The switch from the Core Ultra 7 155H in the predecessor to the new Intel Core Ultra 7 258V (Lunar Lake) yields mixed results.
Single-core performance sees a strong benefit, with a clear gain in the benchmarks. Multi-core performance, however, tells a different story: the new Gram 17 falls marginally behind its predecessor here. This behavior is typical for the Lunar Lake architecture, as Intel opted to omit Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT).
LG actively mitigates this deficit. The 2025 model features a significantly improved dual-fan cooling system. This allows the processor to maintain a power draw that is about ten watts higher than the previous model during sustained use, all while running cooler. Consequently, the multi-core gap is smaller than anticipated. Especially under prolonged loads, the new Gram gains an advantage.
In a general comparison with other current laptops, the Gram's benchmark performance remains below average, as is typical. The device's focus continues to be on portability, not maximum computing power.

System Performance
In contrast to pure processor performance, the Gram 17 fares better when it comes to general system performance. Here, the device places itself comfortably in the midfield. This is primarily thanks to the two fast SSDs and the system's excellent sustained performance.

GPU Performance
The integrated graphics unit, an Intel Arc Graphics 140V, delivered good results in our test. It is powerful enough even for more demanding games, provided the detail settings and resolution are adjusted accordingly.
Overall, the Gram 17 offers a convincing performance here. Notably, it actually performs slightly better in the graphics benchmarks than the more expensive LG Gram Pro 16Z90TS. Potential reasons for this include improved Intel drivers and the generous amount of RAM in our test unit (compared to the Gram Pro).
In any case, the jump in performance compared to the Arc 8-core iGPU in the Core Ultra 7 155H of the predecessor is significant.

Temperature
The keyboard surface can certainly get quite warm, though it never becomes uncomfortably hot to the point where typing is tedious.
Temperature development is clearly dependent on the selected performance mode. Especially in "Silent" operation, the casing noticeably warms up over time until the fans eventually intervene (remaining barely audible). Even under stress testing with maximum cooling performance, the Gram does not exactly stay cool.
(±) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 41 °C / 106 F, compared to the average of 34.3 °C / 94 F, ranging from 21.2 to 62.5 °C for the class Office.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 38 °C / 100 F, compared to the average of 36.8 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 20.5 °C / 69 F, compared to the device average of 29.5 °C / 85 F.
(+) The palmrests and touchpad are cooler than skin temperature with a maximum of 21 °C / 69.8 F and are therefore cool to the touch.
(+) The average temperature of the palmrest area of similar devices was 27.6 °C / 81.7 F (+6.6 °C / 11.9 F).

Power Consumption
The combination of Lunar Lake and a power-efficient IPS panel naturally leads to low energy consumption during idle periods and under light load.
However, a different picture emerges during demanding tasks: here, the Gram can draw a significant amount of power.

Battery life
The 77-Wh battery ensures high endurance. In the WiFi web surfing test, up to 22 hours were achieved, an excellent value. This means the Gram can easily get thru a long day at the office or a short business trip without a power outlet.
