81% LG Gram 17 review: The oversized thin-and-light no one asked for
Source: Engadget English Archive.org version
The LG Gram 17 is an impressive display of what laptop makers can achieve if they focused solely on shaving pounds and inches. It’s incredibly thin and light for something packing a 17-inch screen, and is a gorgeous canvas for movies and multitasking. But it lacks the power you’d need for taxing tasks like video editing or serious gaming -- things people actually want a big screen for. If you’re looking for a big laptop to carry around when you travel, but don’t need it to handle anything too demanding, the Gram 17 is a solid choice. But most people would be better served by a more powerful 15-inch notebook.

Although LG offers lots of laptops in which portability is the primary selling point, the LG Gram 17 is the ultimate manifestation. There’s nothing else like it on the market, and it’s mostly a joy to use despite a middling keyboard and awful speakers. We expect prices on laptops with 8th-generation Intel Core CPUs to drop as laptops powered by 10th-generation chips hit the market, so now might be the perfect time to snag this unique thin-and-light.

LG's Gram 17, astonishingly light for a 17-inch laptop, delivers excellent battery life and a glorious screen. But the relatively high price, the plain design, and some quibbles with the keyboard and touchpad keep it from stardom.

80% LG Gram 17 Review: As Ultra-Portable As 17 Inches Can Get
Source: The Verge English Archive.org version
The Gram 17 is wholly unique on the laptop market, but that also means it’s for a very specific person. A giant screen — even if it can’t be used for super intensive PC tasks — in this unbelievably light package will justify the $1,700 price for some. If you can go smaller, you’ve got no shortage of more powerful (and less flexible) laptops from Microsoft, HP, Dell, Asus, and others to choose from. But the 17-inch Gram is the sort of computer that’s hard to forget after you’ve used it for a bit. If your brain doesn’t remind you of what could’ve been, your back will.

Source: Hardware Zone English Archive.org version
In the end, the only things that count against the gram 17 are its below average performance (due to the use of single-channel memory), its high price, and the fact that it is still a large notebook due to the screen size. However, its expansive and gorgeous display and its incredible lightweight are probably enough to make most users forget about its shortcomings.

As was the case with the 15.6-inch Gram 15, if you want a large screen, long battery life and the lightest travel weight possible, the Gram 17 is the answer. It is nothing short of amazing that LG can keep the body so light while maintaining performance and battery life. LG must agree, too, given its $1,700 price. It has a couple of shortcomings like the keyboard and speakers, but otherwise, LG's made another solid big screen ultraportable laptop, even if it doesn't necessarily feel "solid."

You wouldn't buy this machine just for the weight though. After all, the smaller gram models are lighter. The 15-inch model from last year is just 2.4 pounds, and the gram 14 2-in-1 is just over 2.5 pounds. If you go the 13-inch route, which hasn't been refreshed in a while, it's just 2.1 pounds. You'll have to want the big screen as well. On top of that, you get a real keyboard, a full 15W quad-core Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD. There's not much else that you can ask for in a portable PC that's just so light. At $1,699.99, the LG gram 17 is definitely a buy, if this sounds like the type of PC that you're looking for.

The Gram 17 bucks the trend that 17-inch laptops have to be large and unwieldy. At just 1.34 kg, the laptop is noticeably lighter than most 14-inch and 15-inch Ultrabooks while offering many of the same features including Thunderbolt 3 and a long battery life.
100% LG Gram 17 (2021) review: Light it up
Source: Expert Reviews English
The 2020 LG Gram 17 was a great laptop but the 2021 model is even better. LG has made small improvements everywhere you look while doing nothing to undermine the attraction of the original. It’s still ludicrously light and portable for a 17in laptop, but this year’s version has better battery life, improved connectivity and faster performance. If you hanker after something that works just as well as a mobile workhorse as it does a desktop replacement, it’s pretty much the perfect solution. The only thing that might give you pause is that the LG Gram 17’s new sibling, the LG Gram 16, is cheaper and slightly more portable, while still offering a decent expanse of screen space to play with. Choose either one, though, and you’re highly unlikely to be disappointed.

At S$2,799, the Gram 17 is far from being the best bang for your buck, but might be a good choice for users who fancy a 17-inch screen in a lightweight, ultraportable package. For others, however, the lack of a dedicated GPU and robust build quality does little to justify the hefty price tag, especially since there are already more affordable, powerful builds on the market. LG’s newest member is as unique as it’s niche, which means most users will probably stand to benefit from the more common 15-inch ultraportable notebooks instead.

If you've been working from home on a 13-, 14- or 15-inch laptop and you're finding your productivity suffering by working on its small screen, you may be craving moving to something larger. An external display might make the most sense assuming you've got the room for one. LG Gram 17 17Z90N-V.AA77G

LG has introduced its latest venture, a feather-light 17-inch laptop: the LG Gram 17 17Z90N-V.AA77G. While most other 17-inch laptops feel like big, bulky loads that are more burdensome to lug around than their worth, this one definitely has thin and light written all over it. Essentially, the Gram 17 is an impressive laptop with all the tools for productivity that one would need, along with a portability to crave for, and all this for a much lower price than the competition. This laptop is an absolutely ideal laptop for business trips and personal travels due to its portability, improving the overall user experience. As far as the design is concerned, the Gram 17 does not have any exceptional features at first glance, except for a simple dark grey design with the word “gram” etched on top. In fact, it would not be a surprise if the laptop was described as unattractive. The real strength of the design can only be known when it is lifted. The LG Gram 17 is the lightest 17-inch laptop out there, touting a weight of just 2.95 lbs, which makes it 0.07 pounds lighter than the considerably smaller 13-inch MacBook Pro. Apart from that, it should be noted that with a dimension of 15.0 x 10.5 x 0.7 inches, it is only slightly bigger than the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

In terms of connectivity, there is a decent assortment of ports on this laptop, including three USB-3.1 ports and a Thunderbolt 3 port that supports charging. There is also a headphone jack, an HDMI port and a micro-SD port. Apart from that, it also comes with a USB-3.1 adapter for RJ45 Ethernet. As for the keyboard, it has a nice tactile feel, good bounce and decent travel, which makes it rather comfortable to be used for productivity. The trackpad works well and has a bit more give than expected. There is also a fingerprint reader on the power button that is absolutely reliable. In terms of its display, the LG Gram 17 has been equipped with a QHD (2560x1600) IPS LCD display. In addition, it should be noted that the laptop has a 17-inch display with a 15.6-inch form factor boasting a 16:10 aspect ratio. This essentially gives the users an even bigger canvas while boosting overall productivity. Overall, the screen delivers incredibly beautiful picture quality with 359 nits of brightness.

While the Intel Core i7-8565U processor within the Gram 17 may seem outdated, it is definitely powerful enough for productivity. However, with an Intel UHD Graphics 620 as the GPU, the laptop can barely support anything resembling the current AAA games. As for the battery, LG claims that the 72Wh battery within this model can boast up to 19.5 hours of battery life. Overall, it is definitely a great portable laptop to be explored, depending on the need and choice of the users.

With the Gram 17 17Z90N, LG delivers a feather-light 17-inch laptop that offers a display in the 16:10 format. The rest of the equipment is also fitting: Ice Lake processor, NVMe SSD, 16 GB of working memory (dual-channel mode), and Thunderbolt 3. All this is accompanied by outstanding battery life.

The LG Gram 17 from last year was a step in the right direction, but the 2020 model feels like a step backwards (though not to an extreme degree). All criticisms aside, the two main selling points of this machine are extreme portability (at just 2.98 pounds) and a large, vivid screen. And the LG Gram 17 excels in both of these departments.

LG Gram 17 17Z90N-V.AA55D

The latest to join the LG Gram family is the LG Gram 17 17Z290N-V.AA55D. This device was acknowledged as being capable of handling the most important aspects of mobile computing with aplomb. This laptop can be by far regarded as the lightest laptop with a 17-inch screen and the longest-lasting power source. The phrase ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ seems to suit this laptop well, as the LG Gram 17 definitely does not offer much attraction in terms of its external design. This laptop obviously lacks the exceptional features that can be found on Dell’s XPS 15 and the HP Envy 13. Overall, the device carries a simple dark grey design with the word “gram” inscribed on the top. Due to its lack of colour, one can easily call it unattractive, the same way some one would do with the Apple MacBook 15. However, once the laptop is lifted, there is definitely an appreciation for its appeal. As mentioned earlier, this LG Gram 17 is the lightest 17-inch laptop out there, weighing only 2.96 lb., which is around 0.07 pounds lighter than the smaller 13-inch MacBook Pro. It measures 15.0 x 10.5 x 0.7 inches and is therefore slightly bigger than the 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro.

As for connectivity, the Gram 17Z90N has most of the ports users might need now and beyond, including three USB-3.1 ports, a single Thunderbolt-3 via USB Type-C port that supports charging, a single HDMI port, a headphone jack and a micro-SD card slot. In addition, there is also a single USB-3.1 adapter for RJ45 Ethernet. While it is undeniable that the LG Gram 17’s thin and rugged design may be the main selling points, the display would definitely give users more reason to choose it over its closest rivals. One of the best things about this laptop has to be its 17-inch QHD (2560 x 1600) IPS LCD display. It is set in a 15.6-inch form factor and a 16:10 aspect ratio, which provides an even bigger canvas and improves the overall user experience. The screen is incredibly bright and delivers high-quality pictures with 359 nits of brightness, a 1600p resolution, and it covers over 90% of the colour gamut.

In terms of its keyboard, it definitely feels comfortable and has a nice tactile feel. The decent travel makes it comfortable to use for productivity. The same extends to the trackpad that works well, although it has a bit more give than expected. In addition, there is a unique fingerprint reader on the power button which is quite reliable for secure logins. As for the performance, the LG Gram 17 (17Z90N) is a laptop created to be a workhorse. Therefore, it has been equipped with the latest 10th generation Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, Iris graphics, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD (slotted in two 512GB modules). In terms of its battery, LG claims that the laptop’s 80Wh battery lasts up to 17 hours on a single charge, which definitely improves the overall productivity and usage time. Overall, the LG Gram 17 is definitely a great choice for users, although depending on their need.

Yes! To be honest, with this price range, you will find a lot of good Ultrabooks. However, they won’t give you an absurdly gorgeous 17-inch panel, the 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, and the latest generation of Intel i7 CPU, and very good build quality. You will be getting these with this LG Gram 17. The other deciding factor is the size and battery life. It’s rare to find a 17-inch Ultrabook that is crazy light. Most 17-inch notebooks are gaming laptops. But gaming laptops have a bulky form factor and their battery life is not really desirable. In terms of weight, this one is years ahead of its competitors, and it has superb battery life. In short, if you are looking for a top-of-the-line laptop, that is exceptionally engineered and capable, give it a try, this 2021 LG Gram 17Z90P-K.AAB8U1 delivers.

The LG Gram 17, like its 16-inch sibling, tries to act as a catch-all for a wide range of users, from the mobile professional to home or student consumers who may need a do-it-all device with a large display. In most aspects, the Gram 17 (2021) fits the bill, handling everyday tasks with ease. It has a wonderful selection of ports, a good display, and it can do most of the tasks 90% of customers require with aplomb. Best of all, it lasted 14 hours on our battery test. However, as a 17-inch laptop selling for $1,799, the Gram lacks power. If you need more oomph, the Samsung Galaxy Book 360 is a great choice. At $1,499, the laptop gives better performance for hundreds less. If you want to play games, you’ll want to invest in the $3,049 Dell XPS 17, which has a discrete GPU, powerful performance and a better display, among other benefits. But for those looking for a thin-and-light laptop with the largest possible display., the LG Gram 17 is the laptop for you.

17in laptops have become a comparatively rare sight in recent years, but the LG Gram 17 reminds us why they still have a place in modern business. Large without being unwieldy, this expansive ultraportable blends a superb screen and a great battery life with all the features you could want. That slim frame means it’s let down slightly by underwhelming multi-core performance, but providing you’re not planning to push it too hard, the Gram 17 more than makes up for this deficiency with its other qualities. Whoever said that bigger doesn’t mean better clearly never saw this laptop.

With these issues addressed, the 2021 Gram 17 is a much improved and nearly complete package. The only big-screen buyers who might want to look elsewhere are gamers and content creators, who are better served by the excellent Dell XPS 17 or deluxe gaming rigs such as the Alienware m17. Not only is the Gram 17 light, but it's also pleasing to the touch and easy on the eyes. The massive screen is complemented by a comfortable keyboard and touchpad. Throw in a reasonable asking price and more than enough power for everyday office tasks, and you easily have an Editors' Choice winner for general-use, giant screen laptops.

There are few 17-inch laptops to choose from and even fewer models that are as lightweight as this one. This year’s LG Gram 17 is unique in the sense that it’s more powerful than ever, but it doesn’t give up its portability. Oddly enough, the only competition it faces at the moment comes from within LG. The 16-inch Gram is lighter and less expensive, yet it features the same design, screen size, port selection, battery capacity, and specs (aside from having significantly less storage) for $1,399. You can find one that has the same 1TB storage as the Gram 17 for $1,599. If the Gram 17’s $1,799 price is too expensive, at least you have an alternative that’ll likely deliver the same great results.

LG has improved the two main complaints we had about the previous gram 17 meaning the 2021 model gains full marks. It's the most well-balanced 17in laptop on the market right now.

2021 LG gram Review

Lisa Gade reviews the redesigned 2021 LG gram 17, also available in 16” and 14” sizes. It’s still an impossibly light magnesium alloy Ultrabook, but it has a more angular design, 16:10 aspect ratio WQHD+ displays across the size range and Intel 11th gen processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The display is now wide gamut with full DCI P3 color coverage. The laptop has a backlit keyboard, fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button, Thunderbolt 4, and a roomy 16:10 aspect ratio MS Precision trackpad.

100% LG Gram 17 review (2021): a super-light laptop for premium portability
Source: T3 English
Who knew you could get a laptop this light and this large? And to top it all, the LG Gram 17 (17z90p) offers high-end performance and a screen to die for. Unless you specifically need a touchscreen, 2-in-1, or a gaming laptop, you won't find finer for this form factor at this price.

87.3% LG Gram 17 (2022) review: Light office laptop with a large display and great battery life | Notebookcheck
The LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q) is very light at 1,350 grams, and it features an Alder Lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 as well as room for two PCIe 4 SSDs. This is complemented by excellent battery life and a matte 17-inch display in the 16:10 format (2,560x1,600 pixels).

The 17-inch LG Gram 17 is a peculiar and rather unique laptop. It's as lightweight as much smaller ultrabooks, despite packing a full-size 17-inch display, full inputs, a good set of ports, as well as a large battery. At the same time, it only offers the performance of a smaller ultrabook, which means it is mostly suited for daily tasks and multitasking, but not for serious workloads or gaming. Hence, it's up to you to figure out if the Gram 17 or right for you, or you'd rather go with either something smaller, or something more powerful in the 17-inch class.

70% LG Gram 17 review: big-screen energy
Source: The Verge English
While the LG Gram doesn’t quite have the graphics power that I personally need, I’m very much going to miss using it as my work driver. The extra screen space was heaven, and the weight made walking around with it a breeze. The long battery life was the cherry on top — I never needed to worry about plugging this machine in. The primary compromises to consider are build quality (if that’s your top priority, the XPS is your choice) and the computing needs of your own workload. If you’re looking for a 17-incher, you don’t mind those compromises, and you don’t mind the slightly steep price tag, then you won’t be disappointed in the Gram.

80% LG’s Gram 17-inch (2022) laptop is light on weight, but not performance
Source: Mobile Syrup English
LG's 2022 Gram 17 is a powerhouse when it comes to productivity. Its all-day battery life means you can afford to forget the charger at home and not have second thoughts for the rest of the day, while its large 2560x1600 display makes anything you're doing on it a visual delight. It is super light, coming in at 1.350kg / 2.98lbs, making it a portable machine that you can carry around with one hand with ease, though the lightweight comes with trade-offs. The laptop feels flimsy, and I'm constantly under the impression that slight pressure can break the laptop, and that's not something you want if you're spending $1,900 on a work machine. It features several ports, including a MicroSD card reader, which makes it a desirable laptop for those looking to transfer files on and off the device, though struggles when it comes to handling intensive games due to the lack of a dedicated GPU. I would recommend the laptop to someone who's always on the move, like a university student, who needs a portable laptop with a bunch of screen-time throughout the day, while those looking for a rugged machine that can double as a gaming gadget need to look elsewhere.

With its 17-inch display, light weight and great battery life, the LG Gram 17 (2022) is that rare big-screen laptop that's built to carry all day. While it can't match the display quality or performance of more expensive 17-inch notebooks like the Dell XPS 17 (2022) or the Alienware m17 R5 gaming laptop, that's not what the LG Gram 17 is built to do. This device is built to give you a lot of screen to work on, with plenty of power to keep that screen going all day, without a bunch of junk in the trunk to weigh you down. And in my experience, it delivers.Sure, the sound quality leaves something to be desired and the matte black paint job picks up fingerprints faster than a CSI extra. The built-in software isn't much to get excited about either, but you can deal with those limitations. If what you need is a 17-inch Windows laptop that can run all day and weighs less than 3 pounds, the LG Gram 17 is the laptop for you.

The biggest selling points of the LG Gram 17 are obvious: the featherweight design paired with the 17-inch display. They make it the rare 17-inch laptop that still qualifies as an ultraportable. That was enough to earn last year’s model top marks, yet the 2022 LG Gram 17 has returned with even more to offer. New Intel hardware means better performance and even longer battery life, while new features like a 1080p webcam and Windows Hello facial recognition make it even easier to secure your work. And the best aspects of the Gram 17 are unchanged, from the carbon-magnesium alloy construction to the superb 17-inch display. It’s a laptop that delivers on all fronts, with solid performance and great usability, all wrapped up in a sturdy yet super-portable design. It’s a little more expensive this time around, but it’s still our top choice for big-screen general-purpose laptops.

86.4% LG Gram 17 review - A super light 17-inch laptop with a modest dGPU | Notebookcheck
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050-equipped, 2022 LG Gram 17 weighs only 57 grams more than its counterpart - a device which comes without a dedicated graphics card. On top of this, the laptop offers a 12th-generation Intel Core i7 and 32GB of RAM. Despite having more powerful hardware, the battery on offer here lasts longer than its predecessors.

86.4% LG Gram 17 (2023) review: Ultralight office laptop with Core i7 and long battery life | Notebookcheck
A low weight of about 1.35 kg (~2.98 lb), an excellent battery life, and a matte 17-inch display (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) in the 16:10 format represent the highlights of the LG Gram 17. They are accompanied by two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a good keyboard.
82% LG Gram 17 Review: Big, yet lighter than (MacBook) Air
Source: Tech PP English
The LG Gram 17 starts at Rs 1,46,999 at the time of writing. At that price, it is tough to beat if you are looking at a device purely for extremely portable productivity. Yes, you can get the MacBook Air 15 with a more powerful M2 processor and even better battery life for Rs 1,34,900, but that comes with a much smaller display and, rather remarkably, is heavier than the Gram 17. And that actually is the biggest charm of the LG Gram – that massive display with excellent specs for productivity at an insanely light weight. You are getting a huge 17-inch display, a keyboard complete with a number pad, an Intel Evo i7 chip, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB SSD storage…all at a weight that is less than that of a MacBook Air 15. And at its price and specs, it is pretty much in a zone of its own, especially if you value a large display and a complete keyboard. Some might hem and haw about its plastic build, but the LG Gram 17 is a lightweight notebook that is a productivity heavyweight.

80% LG Gram 17 (2023) review: Blows hot and cold, but better with a Black Friday discount
Source: Expert Reviews English
The Gram 17’s two failings – the rather high Delta E on the screen and the thermal throttling – preclude an unqualified recommendation but, if you don’t plan on using it for colour-critical work or to run really CPU-intensive programmes, you’ll likely never notice either problem. And, as an example of a fully-functional large-screen lightweight laptop, the LG Gram 17 is very good. It has a big, bright colourful screen, a good keyboard, a tuneful sound system and excellent battery life. And just to repeat, it only weighs 1.35kg.

72% LG Gram 17 (2023) review: A featherweight, big-screen laptop
Source: PC World English
The LG Gram 17 is an impressive laptop, but it’s only right for a very specific type of person. If you really need a 17-inch display, but still want to be able to take your laptop everywhere with you, it’s the best choice out there. But if you’re looking for a performance powerhouse, this isn’t it. The Gram 17 is still plenty fast during everyday tasks, but the lack of a discrete GPU limits what it’s capable of. And as good as the display is, the lack of OLED, a high refresh rate and touch support means it falls short of the best laptop screens around. Alongside a flimsy build and that high price tag, most people will be better off with something smaller and cheaper. However, battery life and ports are both great, and I still can’t get over how light this thing is. That alone means it’s worth considering.

LG Gram Pro 17 review: a Gram with more gusto
Source: The Verge English
If LG had managed to cram, say, an RTX 3070 into this Gram Pro, the target audience would be obvious: the mobile creator. The people who want to render on planes or edit in coffee shops and don’t want to lug around a four-pound MacBook Pro 16 (or shell out the money for one). This is a substantial crowd — I hear from them all the time. With an RTX 3050, which is really just a step above Intel’s current integrated graphics offerings, the perfect buyer is harder to pinpoint. Someone who really wants to play League of Legends on a giant screen but not really any modern games? Folks with some kind of GPU load at work (but not a heavy one) who need to carry their laptop to and from the office and don’t have access to an external monitor? I don’t know, maybe those are the two groups. But for pretty much everyone else, I see a regular non-GPU LG Gram (or a Style, if LG ever manages to fix the touchpad) as a better purchase. You’ll get a lower price, better battery life, and an even lighter device.

80% LG Gram 17 (2023) review: a reliable 17-inch laptop with surprisingly light design
Source: 91mobiles English
The LG Gram 17 (2023) is not the most powerful or feature-packed laptop, but it fully delivers its promise of providing a great viewing experience on a big screen without compromising portability. However, there are a few things to nitpick (read: improve). For instance, there’s no webcam shutter, the alloy body feels more like plastic, and the giant screen wobbles. But the biggest concern is the Rs 1,42,990 (MRP Rs 1,83,000) sticker price. By spending a little extra, one could get the more feature-packed Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro or Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 with a 16-inch display. If your priority strictly remains a super-lightweight laptop with a 17-inch display, the LG Gram 17 (2023) remains a top choice. It truly sits in a class of its own as its direct competitor, Dell XPS 17, costs over Rs 3 lakh.

80% LG Gram 17 Pro (2023) review: Serious power, seriously light
Source: Tom's Guide English
The LG Gram 17 Pro (2023) is a powerful ultraportable with strong battery life that remains deceptively light despite the inclusion of a beefy discrete Nvidia GPU. The full keyboard and large display make working and browsing the web feel comfy, and when you want to unwind the screen and speakers make movies look and sound great. The power of a mid-tier 13th Gen Intel CPU and GeForce RTX 3050 GPU allow you to play a wide variety of games on this laptop too, though you'll need to dial down the settings if you want to achieve the high framerates that 144Hz display can deliver. Still, there are some drawbacks that keep me from recommending this laptop without reservation. The power cable is way too short, for one, which feels especially frustrating when the rest of the laptop's design is so good.

78% LG Gram 17 (2023) Review: A 17-Inch Laptop That Won't Weigh You Down
Source: CNet English
A buyer shopping for a 17-inch laptop is usually looking for a system for the home or office where it'll stay and not make the trek back and forth between those two locations with any great frequency. The LG Gram 17 is unique in that it weighs just over 3 pounds -- light enough for daily commutes without giving its owner a sore shoulder. And with an Nvidia RTX GPU, it holds some appeal to on-the-go content creators. Or students who might want to engage in some casual gaming. Just know you sacrifice some of the solid feel you would get with an admittedly heavier aluminum chassis for the increased portability.

90% LG Gram 17 2023 review — how is this 17-inch laptop so light?!
Source: Laptop Mag English
Who is the LG Gram 17 for? Photo editors, professional graphic designers and illustrators seeking a rival-beating display. Compared to similar competitors on the market, the LG Gram 17's display is more color accurate. Pitted against the MacBook Pro, the LG Gram covers more of the DCI-P3 color space. And unlike the MacBook Pro, you won't be stuck in dongle hell. It has a perfect mix of legacy and modern ports for your productivity needs. It excels across other areas, too, including power efficiency, graphics performance, and audio quality. Apple and Lenovo better watch out! LG’s making a name for itself in the laptop space, and it’s gunning for the beloved MacBook Pro and the Yoga 9i.

Source: PC Mag English
When we reviewed the 17-inch Gram in 2022 it cost $1,799.99—this year's model is $200 more. That isn't excessive considering the switch to discrete graphics (though the RTX 3050 is on the low side among current Nvidia GPUs) but, like the Gram Pro 17's weight surpassing 3 pounds, it makes the system a bit less appealing. We're also unimpressed by the keyboard and unnerved by the screen's wobbling and bowing. Still, the Gram Pro 17 has a lot in its favor. If you set out to buy one of the biggest- and brightest-screened desktop replacement laptops, you'd probably not expect such feathery weight or long battery life. That makes the LG a pleasant surprise if not quite a repeat Editors' Choice winner.

2023 LG Gram 17 Review (NVIDIA RTX)
Source: Mobile Tech Review English
For 2023, LG updates the insanely slim and light magnesium alloy gram 17 Pro laptop (model 17Z90R) with NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics and an Intel 13th gen Core i7 processor. At 3.2 lbs. / 1.45kg, the gram 17 Pro is among the lightest laptops on the market with dedicated graphics. It has a 17” QHD+ VRR 144Hz matte wide gamut display, plenty of ports including Thunderbolt 4 and a 90Whr battery for long runtimes. It might lack the horsepower of the Dell XPS 17 or 16” MacBook Pro, but if you need a lightweight carry and long battery life more than max performance, it’s worth a look.

The LG Gram 17 Pro's performance is also a little underwhelming compared to competitors of similar size and price. The configuration of Dell XPS 17 we tested last year, for example, can be yours right now for roughly the same price ($1,999) and it offers better performance (thanks to a more powerful CPU and more RAM) than the Gram 17 Pro. However, Dell's laptop has a lower-resolution screen, a lower-quality webcam and weighs nearly 2 pounds more. If you like macOS, Apple's 16-inch MacBook Pro is also a compelling alternative. While it costs more ($2,499 to start) and is heavier than the LG Gram 17 Pro, with a smaller screen, Apple's 16-inch Pro is much speedier, offers better battery life and better speakers. However, you won't be able to play as many PC games on the MacBook Pro unless you want to deal with the hassle of getting Windows-only games running in macOS. But for my money, you can't do better than the LG Gram 17 Pro if you want a discreet 17-inch Windows ultraportable that can do a bit of everything (work, gaming, content creation) you can take pretty much anywhere.

50% LG Gram 17 Pro (2023) review: a good idea, poorly executed
Source: Digital Trends English
It’s hard to recommend a laptop with so many technical glitches. I trust that LG will get them fixed, but in the meantime, I’d be a bit wary. Regarding its performance, battery life, and display, the Gram 17 Pro is a solid laptop. It would be a great choice for multitaskers and light creators. Its keyboard is uncomfortable, though, and its touchpad is too small. And its chassis doesn’t have the same dense rigidity that I’ve come to expect from the best laptops. Given its premium price and its unreliable performance, this is one 17-inch laptop that you probably want to pass up for now.

LG Gram 17 (2023) Review
Source: USA Today English
The LG Gram 17 is proof that huge laptops serve a purpose. It won't fit in cramped spaces, but the large display is absolutely wonderful to use on a desk, conference room, or coffee shop. It's bright, easy to read, and provides tons of space for viewing multiple applications at once. LG also delivers on value. The Gram 17’s base MSRP of $2,000 isn’t inexpensive, but it snags you an impressive Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB solid state drive, and Nvidia RTX 3050 graphics. Comparatively, the MacBook Pro 16 M2 starts at $2,500 and the Dell XPS 17 starts at $2,949, yet both ship with a smaller 512GB solid state drive. However, the Gram 17 would be better served by additional USB-A and USB-C connectivity, and a full-sized SDXC card reader. It looks and feels mundane, as well. Thankfully, LG’s pricing makes these flaws easy to forgive. The Gram 17 delivers a combination of screen size, pricing, and performance that’s difficult for competitors to match. It’s a practical choice for people who want a big-screen performance laptop without an equally massive price tag.

87% LG Gram 17 (2024) laptop review - Small improvements and a new Core Ultra 7 | Notebookcheck
LG's new Gram has stayed true to the series. From the outside, barely anything has changed about the slim 17-inch device. On the inside, a Meteor Lake processor now powers the laptop. However, LG has quietly and secretly eliminated a few of the points of criticism which we raised about our test device's predecessors.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 (Ice Lake 64 EU): Integrated graphics card in Intel Ice-Lake G7 SoCs based on the new Gen. 11 architecture with 64 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model ranging from 300 MHz base to 1050 - 1100 MHz boost. The Ice-Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm process at Intel produced.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.

Intel Ice Lake:

i7-1065G7: Ice Lake-based quad-core processor for thin and light laptops. The four cores are clocked at 1.3 GHz to 3.9 GHz and should offer 18% more IPC (instructions per clock) than the previous generations (and therefore partly close the clock speed gap). Produced on first-gen 10 nm Intel process.

i5-1035G7: Ice Lake based quad core processor for thin and light laptops. Integrated four Sunnycove cores clocked at 1.2 - 3.7 GHz that support Hyperthreading (8 threads). Furthermore, the SoC integrates a relatively fast Iris Plus G7 graphics card  and Wifi 6 / Thunderbolt partly integrated. The chip is manufactured in the modern 10nm process at Intel.

:

Intel Tiger Lake:

i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.

i5-1135G7: A quad-core, mid-range processor of Tiger Lake product family designed for use in ultra-light laptops. The i5 is manufactured on Intel's second-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin and features an 80 EU Iris Xe G7 iGPU. Core i5-1135G7 has a base clock speed of 2.4 GHz as long as it is allowed to consume 28 watts.

Intel Alder Lake-P:

i5-1240P: A mid-range 28 W Alder Lake family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This SoC is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. The i5's performance cores are Hyper-Threading-enabled for a total of 16 threads. Core i5-1240P runs at 1.2 GHz to 4.4 GHz; it has a built-in 80 EU Iris Xe GPU and supports "Essentials" tier vPro features.

i7-1260P: An upper mid-range Alder Lake family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This 28 W SoC is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. Core i7-1260P's performance cores are Hyper-Threading-enabled for a total of 16 threads. This 12th Gen CPU runs at 1.5 GHz to 4.7 GHz and supports "Essentials" tier vPro features. Last but not the least, Core i7-1260P has a built-in 96 EU Iris Xe GPU, not unlike certain 11th Gen Tiger Lake-UP3 processors.

Intel Raptor Lake-P:

i7-1360P: Raptor Lake-P based CPU with a TDP of 28 Watt. Offers 4 performance cores and 8 efficiency cores and therefore 16 threads.

Intel Intel Meteor Lake-H:

Ultra 7 155H: A high-end Meteor Lake chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra processor has come to replace 13th generation Core chips; it has 16 cores (6 + 8 + 2) and 22 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 6, run at up to 4.8 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.8 GHz. The integrated AI Boost NPU offers two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. This laptop processor's Base power consumption is 28 W while its Turbo power consumption is supposed to stay within 115 W.

17.00: This display size is a standard format for desktop replacements (DTR). The DTR laptops are heavier to carry, need more power, but texts are easy to read and high resolutions are no problem. DTR are mainly intended for stationary desk use, where weight and energy hunger don't matter. In return, you enjoy the advantages of high resolutions (more details, better legibility).
