With its 17-inch display, light weight and great battery life, the LG Gram 17 (2022) is that rare big-screen laptop that's built to carry all day. While it can't match the display quality or performance of more expensive 17-inch notebooks like the Dell XPS 17 (2022) or the Alienware m17 R5 gaming laptop, that's not what the LG Gram 17 is built to do. This device is built to give you a lot of screen to work on, with plenty of power to keep that screen going all day, without a bunch of junk in the trunk to weigh you down. And in my experience, it delivers.Sure, the sound quality leaves something to be desired and the matte black paint job picks up fingerprints faster than a CSI extra. The built-in software isn't much to get excited about either, but you can deal with those limitations. If what you need is a 17-inch Windows laptop that can run all day and weighs less than 3 pounds, the LG Gram 17 is the laptop for you.

The biggest selling points of the LG Gram 17 are obvious: the featherweight design paired with the 17-inch display. They make it the rare 17-inch laptop that still qualifies as an ultraportable. That was enough to earn last year’s model top marks, yet the 2022 LG Gram 17 has returned with even more to offer. New Intel hardware means better performance and even longer battery life, while new features like a 1080p webcam and Windows Hello facial recognition make it even easier to secure your work. And the best aspects of the Gram 17 are unchanged, from the carbon-magnesium alloy construction to the superb 17-inch display. It’s a laptop that delivers on all fronts, with solid performance and great usability, all wrapped up in a sturdy yet super-portable design. It’s a little more expensive this time around, but it’s still our top choice for big-screen general-purpose laptops.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-1260P: An upper mid-range Alder Lake family CPU featuring 4 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. This 28 W SoC is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops. Core i7-1260P's performance cores are Hyper-Threading-enabled for a total of 16 threads. This 12th Gen CPU runs at 1.5 GHz to 4.7 GHz and supports "Essentials" tier vPro features. This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
