The ASUS Vivobook 15 F1504 (X1504) is a capable machine for normal work. The keyboard is comfortable for typing and the touchpad is smooth and accurate enough for the class. Even if the processor is pushed to its limits, the fan doesn’t become loud. The cooling may not look impressive with its single fan and just one heat pipe, but the Core 7 150U boosts to 3.70 GHz / 2.84 GHz in short stress. This leads to good snappiness for daily tasks. The clocks in long loads are also decent (especially for such a laptop) – 2.16 GHz / 1.65 GHz. The IPS display (NV156FHM-N4S (BOE09CC)) isn’t meant for content creation and that’s why the color coverage is low. Sadly, this applies to the max brightness as well. On the flip side, the panel is PWM-free and it has wide viewing angles. The ASUS Vivobook 15 impresses with good input devices, long battery life, and nice comfort during full system loads.

The ASUS Vivobook 15 cuts a few corners to keep its cost down. The laptop’s display is dull, and its design would benefit from more premium materials and lively colours. On the other hand, the laptop’s performance is right up there with laptops that cost a couple thousand bucks more. It’s clear then, that the Vivobook 15 is geared toward folks who want the most bang for their buck. I, for one, always implore budget-conscious buyers to prioritise a laptop’s performance as it will make or break their experience. For everything else, there’s an accessory you can upgrade to down the line. As such, the Vivobook 15, despite its niggles, gets a thumbs up from me.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.

75%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
