MSI’s new business laptop line comes with slightly fewer pros than cons on the final tally. The Commercial 14's powerful performance, three-year warranty, high-quality sustainable build, and broad connectivity all help it deliver lots of value. However, we think MSI needs to include a larger keyboard and a better webcam the next time around. It also didn’t impress in our battery life test, though it still lasts long enough for this class. Finally, for the price, the laptop could do with a slightly sharper or deeper-color display. With that, the Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 remains our favorite budget- and- small-business laptop, but the Commercial 14 deserves a look for its superior processing power, and for the option to work with MSI to custom-configure a Commercial for your organization's exact needs.

Intel Iris Xe G7 96EUs: Integrated graphics card in Intel Tiger Lake G4 SoCs based on the new Gen. 12 architecture with 96 EUs (Execution Units / Shader Cluster). The clock rate depends on the processor model. The Tiger Lake chips are produced in the modern 10nm+ process at Intel.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

i7-13700H: Alder Lake based mobile CPU with 6 performance cores and 8 efficient cores. The performance cores offer hyper threading, leading to 20 threads that can be processed. The CPU clocks with up to 5 GHz. There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

MSI: Micro-Star International (MSI) was founded in 1986 in Taiwan. MSI is especially known as a manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards for PCs, but also offers computer accessories, complete systems, motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, desktop PCs, monitors and other components. However, the Microstar brand name in Germany belongs to the Medion company. MSI is known for its gaming products and has developed a wide range of gaming laptops and desktop PCs. The company is also active in workstations, servers and industrial automation. MSI has offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
