LG delivers a slim, portable office laptop with the Gram 17, which weighs just 1,350 grams, placing it among the lightweight models. This has been achieved by a consistent low weight construction: The case is made of a magnesium alloy, and the laptop's interior only contains the bare essentials.
A Core i5-1240P processor and 16 GB of RAM (LPDDR5-5200, dual-channel mode, onboard, not expandable) equip the laptop for office and Internet use. The device wasn't designed to handle a continuously high workload: The processor responds to short load peaks with a lot of computing power, but it has to throttle its speed during prolonged load. The storage capacity (512 GB) of the very fast PCIe 4 SSD should be sufficient in most cases. Otherwise, the laptop offers room for a second PCIe 4 SSD.
An 80 Wh battery ensures real-world runtimes of about 11 to 14 hours (display brightness about 150 cd/m²), and one battery charge is enough for a Wi-Fi runtime of around 7 hours at maximum display brightness. The laptop is powered through a USB-C power adapter (65 watts) that can be plugged into both Thunderbolt 4 ports.
While earlier Gram models only had glossy displays, the current model features a matte display - still in the more work-friendly 16:10 format and with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels. The brightness and contrast meet their respective targets; in addition, viewing angles are stable, and color reproduction is good. Positive: The panel covers the DCI-P3 color space almost completely.
