Reviews for the LG Gram 17 (2022)
The LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q) is very light at 1,350 grams, and it features an Alder Lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 as well as room for two PCIe 4 SSDs. This is complemented by excellent battery life and a matte 17-inch display in the 16:10 format (2,560x1,600 pixels).

The 17-inch LG Gram 17 is a peculiar and rather unique laptop. It's as lightweight as much smaller ultrabooks, despite packing a full-size 17-inch display, full inputs, a good set of ports, as well as a large battery. At the same time, it only offers the performance of a smaller ultrabook, which means it is mostly suited for daily tasks and multitasking, but not for serious workloads or gaming. Hence, it's up to you to figure out if the Gram 17 or right for you, or you'd rather go with either something smaller, or something more powerful in the 17-inch class.

While the LG Gram doesn’t quite have the graphics power that I personally need, I’m very much going to miss using it as my work driver. The extra screen space was heaven, and the weight made walking around with it a breeze. The long battery life was the cherry on top — I never needed to worry about plugging this machine in. The primary compromises to consider are build quality (if that’s your top priority, the XPS is your choice) and the computing needs of your own workload. If you’re looking for a 17-incher, you don’t mind those compromises, and you don’t mind the slightly steep price tag, then you won’t be disappointed in the Gram.

LG's 2022 Gram 17 is a powerhouse when it comes to productivity. Its all-day battery life means you can afford to forget the charger at home and not have second thoughts for the rest of the day, while its large 2560x1600 display makes anything you're doing on it a visual delight. It is super light, coming in at 1.350kg / 2.98lbs, making it a portable machine that you can carry around with one hand with ease, though the lightweight comes with trade-offs. The laptop feels flimsy, and I'm constantly under the impression that slight pressure can break the laptop, and that's not something you want if you're spending $1,900 on a work machine. It features several ports, including a MicroSD card reader, which makes it a desirable laptop for those looking to transfer files on and off the device, though struggles when it comes to handling intensive games due to the lack of a dedicated GPU. I would recommend the laptop to someone who's always on the move, like a university student, who needs a portable laptop with a bunch of screen-time throughout the day, while those looking for a rugged machine that can double as a gaming gadget need to look elsewhere.

This range for display formats was and is a rarity. It is larger than the general standard of 15 inches, but not yet in the range of large workstations. One usually has higher screen resolutions available, but portability suffers from that.
