The industry shouldn't expect many high-profile Ubisoft games to appear in the next year. The publisher has decided to take its time with Far Cry 7 and other projects. Even so, after declining revenue, Ubisoft hopes that a Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake will keep it financially stable.
Ubisoft just announced its 2024-25 financial earnings, affecting plans for major IPs. Buyers are unlikely to see major Ubisoft games debut in the near future. Instead, the company is taking a cue from the successful Assassin's Creed Shadows release. The title ultimately achieved earned massive sales despite repeated delays. Ubisoft will take the same approach with other anticipated games, including Far Cry 7.
The French publisher suffered a net loss of $178 million, with revenues 17.5 percent lower than the previous year. Ubisoft has already set low expectations for the 2025-26 fiscal year. However, it believes that a Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake and Anno 117: Pax Romana will keep the company afloat. Once the next installments of prominent IPs surface, Ubisoft anticipates rising profits in 2026-27 and 2027-28.

Insider Gaming reports that Ubisoft's strategy could slow the Far Cry 7 release date. While the action-adventure/shooter title usually sees frequent releases, the follow-up may not arrive until late 2026. The darker-themed Assassin's Creed Hexe likely won't ship until at least 2027.
On the other hand, Assassin's Creed fans may not have to wait several years for a new game. A Fall Guys-inspired multiplayer experience called Invictus is rumored to be in development. A Black Flag remake may also be in the works, but it's unclear when any of these projects will be complete.
The publisher appears intent on treading water until anticipated Ubisoft games are ready. Still, its plan is not without risks. Warner Bros. Games recently saw the effect of a light release schedule. 1st quarter 2025 revenue dropped by 48% compared to the same period in 2024. Fortunately for Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Shadows alone may sustain it for months to come.
