NetherRealm Studios has announced Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition. This version of the popular fighting game arrives for consoles and PC, and is the sensible purchase for those who haven't owned the game.
Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition includes the Mortal Kombat 1 base game, the Khaos Reigns Expansion Story Content, Kombat Pack 1 and Kombat Pack 2, Shang Tsung (pre-order bonus), six kameo fighters, five skins from the Mortal Kombat 2 movie, Tournament Liu Kang Skin, six Premier Skins, 1250 Dragon Krystal Pack, and Kameo Unlock Pack + Instant Havik unlock.
Available for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 (available on Amazon for $499), Nintendo Switch, and PC, Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition costs $69.99 on all platforms save for the Nintendo Switch version which costs $59.99 on the eShop. Those on PC will be able to purchase it on the Epic Game Store or on Steam. NetherRealm Studios didn't say if there will be a physical release, but don't hold your breath.
There's also a Definitive Edition upgrade for those who already have the base game (Xbox, PlayStation, and PC only), but at $59.99, which is pretty expensive to say the least. Fans are not only angry at the ridiculous price but also mad that the launch of the definitive edition means the end of support for the game that was released in September 2023 but was supposed to get a new story expansion.
