By not announcing any new GPUs, Nvidia’s CES 2026 presence left many gamers disappointed. A new rumor from Board Channels won’t give any reassurance to these fans. Discussed by VideoCardz, Nvidia has reportedly warned partners not to expect the RTX 50 Super series anytime soon.
The evolving RTX 50 Super schedule
Reports initially hinted that the RTX 5070 Super, RTX 5070 Super Ti, and RTX 5080 Super would arrive in Q1 2026. The timeline for the updated Blackwell graphics card was then pushed back to later in the year. When Jensen Huang failed to reveal the hardware at CES, followers lost hope for an early arrival.
Now, the question is whether the Nvidia GPUs will ever materialize. The Board Channels post highlights the memory shortage as a key contributor. Along with boosted clock speeds, the RTX 50 Super series would feature additional VRAM. Still, using larger 3GB GDDR7 modules would put more strain on the DRAM supply.
AI data centers are also desperate for the dies used in the consumer-grade Blackwell models. Nvidia finds it more profitable to focus on RTX Pro cards, like the RTX 6000 Blackwell Server Edition. The company has plans to expand its presence further in the AI industry following the introduction of the Vera Rubin Platform.
How RDNA 5 impacts Nvidia's strategy
Another factor at play is the lack of a threat from AMD. Its RDNA 5 GPUs may not surface until at least the middle of 2027, around the time of the PS6 release. Even though the rival has made inroads in the marketplace, Team Green doesn’t see a reason to rush new products.
The latest rumor predicts that existing Nvidia GPUs could remain available until the RTX 60 series ships in 2027. Meanwhile, the manufacturer may skip the RTX 50 Super lineup entirely. However, there are concerns that the memory shortage will disrupt those plans.
Recently, a German retailer discovered that its supplier would stop dispatching some graphics cards. Significant price increases on RTX 5090 and lower-end alternatives are also possible. Given the company’s shift toward enterprise support, gamers are skeptical that Nvidia has their interests in mind.
