Govee launches its first Outdoor Solar String Lights with brighter multi-color effects
Govee lights are capable of high brightness and elaborate multi-hue patterns. However, until now, that performance hasn’t been available with most solar-powered options. The Outdoor Solar String Lights aims to bring many of the same features appreciated indoors to an eco-friendly solution.
The new Govee outdoor lights come in 34-foot/10.4-meter lengths with 8 bulbs per string. Buyers can find them on sale now on the manufacturer’s storefront and Amazon for $99.99.
Compromises with solar lights?
Even with single-color bulbs, the smart lights are compatible with many of the same scenes as the recent Govee Outdoor Chromatic String Lights. Thanks to a dedicated chip, RGBICW technology also produces more authentic white hues. With each light outputting 50 lumens, they hope to outshine the muted displays of other solar lights.
Another common issue with sun-powered rivals is longevity. To address that shortcoming, the kit ships with a 6-watt solar panel and a higher capacity 4800mAh battery. For shaded backyards and cloudy climates, buyers can recharge the unit through a USB-C port. The company promises up to 13 hours of working time for the Govee Outdoor Solar String Lights.
Outdoor Solar String Lights durability
The manufacturer designed the battery to suffer less degradation over time. Both the solar lights and panel are IP67 rated to protect against dust and water buildup. The lights themselves are expected to last 30,000 hours, covered by a 2-year warranty.
Over 100 preset scenes should give owners plenty of options out of the box. The latest arrival mostly matches the feature set of the brand's other indoor and outdoor creations. That said, group control is available, but more advanced syncing through DreamView is not.
Like other Govee lights, the Outdoor Solar String Lights embrace the Matter smart home protocol. Basic commands in Google Home and Amazon Alexa apps are also supported. Still, the first-party software can monitor battery life and enable day-night recognition to conserve power.
