The Solar Cam Pan is a new battery-powered security camera from Wyze with solar charging. It features a high-efficiency ETFE solar panel that’s said to require only one hour of direct sunlight per day to deliver continuous battery power. Wyze also claims that the built-in 6,400 mAh battery provides up to six months of standalone power to keep users covered through cloudy or rainy days.
That said, the Wyze Solar Cam Pan features a 2K camera with night vision to help preserve details in low-light conditions. Like the newly released Tapo C615F, it can also automatically detect and lock onto people, while two-way audio support allows owners to communicate easily with visitors. More importantly, the camera can rotate 360° horizontally and tilt up to 70°, which should easily cover a large backyard or driveway. Footage can be stored locally using a microSD card up to 512 GB or in the cloud with a Wyze subscription plan.
Other highlights include a motion-activated spotlight and a 105 dB siren to help deter intruders. The Solar Cam Pan is also IP65-rated for water and dust resistance, meaning it can be installed almost anywhere outdoors. Once set up, users can control viewing angles, manage alerts, or create daily automations through the Wyze app. It also works with Google Assistant, Alexa, and IFTTT and supports Wi-Fi 6 for a fast and reliable connection.
The Wyze Solar Cam Pan is available now for $79.98 at Wyze. That makes it more affordable than similar solar-powered security cameras like the Tapo C615F Solar-Powered Floodlight Pan/Tilt Security Camera (curr: $89.99 at Amazon), Baseus Security X1 Pro (curr: $179.99 at Amazon), and eufy Security SoloCam S340 (curr: $159.99 at Amazon).
