Large tablets from well-known manufacturers are barely affordable. If you want a screen bigger than 13 inches for a low price, you have to turn to smaller brands. We got a chance to take a look at the Teclast T65, an Android tablet that offers a lot for a little money. Here's a summary of our findings.

A 120Hz screen is a great thing, everything looks smoother, movies can be enjoyed without stuttering, and you can react much quicker in fast-paced games. The Teclast T65 comes with such a fast display, which you wouldn't expect, since the tablet only costs $189 on Amazon.

Despite the low price, users can also look forward to satellite navigation and 4G LTE connectivity. But then the tablet must have a cheap plastic chassis, right? On the contrary, the T65 even has a high-quality unibody made from metal. And if you like a microSD card reader for storage expansion, you'll be happy too.

Too good to be true?

At first, this sounds almost too good. And there are indeed some caveats with the Teclast T65, as this company can't work magic either. The battery has a capacity of 8,000mAh, which is rather small considering the size of the tablet. While the battery life of 13:44 hours in our WiFi test is decent, you'll likely have to charge the device more often. And that can take a while, as it only charges with 10 watts.

The Teclast T65 also has no biometric unlocking feature, so no fingerprint sensor or face recognition. Those who like to play it safe might also be annoyed that Teclast doesn’t promise any software updates. We also couldn't find any information about the tablet's sustainability.

The creaking noises the chassis makes when you pick up the tablet are also a bit annoying. And the SoC is quite slow, even compared to tablets in the low-end to mid-range segment.

More details on the affordable Teclast tablet

Nevertheless, the Teclast T65 can be a viable choice if you're just looking for the biggest possible screen for the least amount of money. You can find a lot more info and test results in our detailed review.
