Xiaomi has expanded upon last year's Redmi Pad Pro and the Redmi Pad 2 (curr. $199 on Amazon) with the Redmi Pad 2 Pro rather than the Redmi Pad Pro 2. Unlike with the Redmi Pad 2, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro has landed with and without 5G connectivity too, albeit with identical chipsets.
Specifically, Xiaomi has equipped both the Redmi Pad 2 Pro and Redmi Pad 2 Pro 5G with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 that features inside the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus. Since the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 are similar, Xiaomi's new Redmi tablets should outperform their direct predecessors by a wide margin in CPU and GPU-heavy tasks. For instance, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 inside both Redmi Pad Pro variants trails the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 by around 15% in our benchmarks.
Meanwhile, battery capacity has grown from 10,000 mAh to 12,000 mAh, which is still topped up with 33 W wired charging. In other words, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro will charge more slowly than its predecessor. Seemingly, Xiaomi has brought across last year's 12.1-inch display though, which continues to output at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness.
Likewise, the 8 MP, f/2.28 and 1/4-inch front-facing camera returns. However, Xiaomi has swapped the 8 MP rear-facing camera for a new 13 MP, f/2.2 and 1/3.06-inch sensor. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro series starts at €279.90 with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a €20 early bird deal factored in. Alternatively, the series can be configured with up to 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and a 5G chipset for €409 in a choice of two colour options.
