Xiaomi reveals SoC upgrade for Pad 8 Pro ahead of the tablet's imminent launch

Xiaomi is getting ready to launch a wave of new devices, including Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phones. Alongside the Xiaomi 17 phone series, the brand is expected to introduce the Pad 8 lineup, and recently, the front design of the tablets was showcased.

Now, the company has confirmed the SoC of the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. Just like previous reports hinted, the Pro model will indeed feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will stand as a proper upgrade over the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 that powers the last-gen Pad 7 Pro. To be specific, Xiaomi claims that the performance improvement will be by up to 69% in comparison.

Of course, Xiaomi won't have the upper hand over its competitors with the Pad 8 Pro, as companies like Honor are rumored to launch Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tablets soon. Still, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is more than capable of meeting the day-to-day demands of users, and it's also a powerful SoC for gaming and heavy tasks.

As for the other specs of the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro, it's expected to feature an 11.2-inch display, which is the same screen size as its predecessor (12/512 GB curr. $599 on Amazon). The company has also recently showcased that its upcoming tablet series will have support for accessories, including a stylus pen and a keyboard attachment, making the devices versatile for different workflows.

It's also worth noting that Xiaomi has teased another tablet, called the Xiaomi Pad Mini. This device is a rebrand of the Redmi K Pad for the global market and will feature the Dimensity 9400+. So, as it stands, the company will not launch a tablet that features the Dimensity 9500 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 anytime soon.
