Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus earbuds launch with Dolby Audio and wireless charging for $199

Shokz has followed up the OpenFit 2 open earbuds announced at the beginning of the year with a new model. Called the Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus (stylized as OpenFit 2+), they are almost identical to the standard model but come with a few upgrades, and of course, a higher price tag.

The Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus earbuds have the same design as the non-plus model; each earbud has a two-tone design, a customizable physical button, and touch controls. The earbuds even have the same weight and retain the IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. However, while the standard version can be purchased in Beige and Black, the Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus are available in Black, Gray, and a special Hyrox edition.

In terms of upgraded features, Shokz has improved the audio experience of the OpenFit 2 Plus by adding support for Dolby Audio. Shokz says this should result in a more expansive soundstage and a lifelike audio experience. In addition, the OpenFit 2 Plus earbuds feature Shokz's DirectPitch 2.0 technology, which improves on the audio conduction method and reduces sound leakage. 

The earbuds still have a customizable EQ and come with four preset EQ modes. They also have Shokz DualBoost technology, which uses two independent drivers for low and high frequency sounds and then combines them for an improved listening experience. There are two microphones on each earbud with noise cancellation technology, and they work together with AI-powered beamforming algorithms to filter out background noise during calls.

The Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus have 11 hours of battery life like the regular model, and it goes up to a total of 48 hours with the case. However, what has changed is that the case of the OpenFit 2 Plus has support for wireless charging in addition to wired charging via a USB-C port. Like the standard model, there's fast charging too, as a 10-minute charge will provide 2 hours of playback.

The OpenFit 2 Plus have Bluetooth 5.4 with support for Bluetooth Multipoint and Find My Earbuds, and owners can use the companion app to update the firmware, customize the audio experience, and check the battery status.

The Shokz OpenFit 2 Plus are available to buy now from Shokz for $199.95, and buyers get a free gym bag (limited quantities available) when they order the earbuds. They are also available to order on Amazon, but instead of a gym bag, you get a protective case for the earbuds.
