Few tablets boast a 12-inch display and are as affordable as the Teclast T60 AI. The manufacturer officially charges $169 for its large Android tablet, but at the time of writing, it’s not listed on Amazon US just yet.
Folio cover and stylus are included
Our review revealed that the T60 AI offers a lot, despite its wallet-friendly price. It comes with 128GB of storage, a microSD slot for cards with up to 1TB, two USB-C ports, the entry-level Allwinner A733 SoC and a 90Hz IPS panel with 2000 x 1200 pixels. It's also a nice touch that Teclast bundles a folio cover and a stylus with the tablet.
Furthermore, there’s a desktop mode, which can improve productivity by running apps side by side in separate windows. That being said, the Allwinner A733 isn't suitable for demanding applications, but it provides enough power for standard tasks like web browsing and video playback. The T60 AI is perfectly capable of handling Netflix and similar services, as it supports HD streaming thanks to DRM Widevine L1 certification.
AI-powered video upscaling
If video material isn't high-resolution, the T60 AI can upscale it via AI, which results in surprisingly decent picture quality. The remaining AI features are mostly limited to gestures, which don’t work well. With an average brightness of 327 nits, the T60 AI's IPS panel is only bright enough for indoor usage. While it can be used outdoors, it can be difficult to read the display even in the shade.
The Teclast tablet can run simpler games run smoothly. In our review, the T60 AI rendered PUBG Mobile at HD settings with an average of 30 frames per second, but we noticed some occasional frame rate drops. In contrast, it struggled with the GPU-heavy Genshin Impact and only hit 17 fps at lowest settings.
Moreover, the Teclast T60 AI lacks some features that some similarly priced tablets offer. For example, there's no GPS, no fingerprint sensor and no face unlock. Its WiFi 5 speeds are typical for its class and not the fastest, the cameras are anything but impressive and battery life is below average. Last but not least, we’ve also criticized the uncertainty regarding software updates.
