It looks like the launch of the Redmi Pad 2 is right around the corner. Xiaomi is still yet to officially comment on the existence of its new entry-level tablet. Nonetheless, various retail lists have now appeared online after renders and specifications surfaced almost two weeks ago.
So far, we can only find the Redmi Pad 2 across European retailers. That is not to say that Xiaomi will restrict its latest Android tablet to merely a European release, though. Instead, the company is currently expected to offer the Redmi Pad 2 globally as it does with its Redmi Pad tablets, such as last year's Redmi Pad Pro (curr. $299 on Amazon).
According to various retailers, the Redmi Pad 2 will start at €199 (~$225) with 4 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and Wi-Fi-only connectivity. As expected, Xiaomi will also sell 4G cellular variants, albeit at higher price tags. For now, Otto has priced a 4G variant for €299 (~$339). However, that price will be somewhat inflated by Xiaomi having also included 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
At this stage, the exact SKUs in which Xiaomi will sell the Redmi Pad 2 is unclear. Conversely, all the retailers linked below mention the same specifications, like a MediaTek Helio G100 Ultra chipset, a 9,000 mAh battery and an 11-inch IPS display that combines a 2.5K native resolution with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak brightness. 5 MP front-facing and 8 MP rear-facing cameras will be onboard, as will 18 W wired charging capabilities. Unfortunately, it seems that Xiaomi plans to ship the Redmi Pad 2 without a power supply in the box.
