If you want to save lots of pictures and videos on your tablet, then the Teclast T40 HD might be for you. Thanks to its Widevine L1 support and Full HD screen, its does a good job at playing back, too. We have summarized the results of our detailed review of the tablet.

Teclast offers a wide range of devices that mostly cost below US$200 and are pretty well-equipped for the price class.

This is also the case with the Teclast T40 HD, which we recently tested thoroughly: 128 GB of UFS-2.0 storage and 8 GB RAM are two things seldomly seen within this price range. Its ability to access cellular networks using SIM cards — allowing you to surf the web, send messages or make calls — is not your everyday feature.

Furthermore, it boasts a high-quality metal case that also feels great thanks to its slightly textured back. The only thing that takes away from its high-quality feel is that the device creaks a little when you twist it.

Its cameras are a little less impressive. You can use these for snapshots, to read QR codes or to scan documents in good lighting conditions. As a result of its hefty color tint, unclean areas and low dynamics in very light and dark spots, photography fans might want to keep their distance.

The Teclast T40 HD leaves more to be desired in terms of locating, too: In our practical test on our bike, its recorded route wasn't all too accurate at times.

Stock Android is installed as an operating system and the manufacturer hasn't added any sponsored apps or bloatware to the tab. However, its safety patches are on the older side and its future update supply isn't terribly clear. Unfortunately, this is also the case with lots of other manufacturers in this price class.

Its screen is relatively bright and with its Full HD resolution, it offers a satisfactory amount of pixels. In turn, its color accuracy isn't the best. Even so, it doesn't use PWM and features Widevine L1 support, meaning the screen doesn't flicker at low brightness levels and you can enjoy streaming content in HD.

The tablet currently retails for just over US$200 and if you are lucky, you might be able to find it for a promotional price from some retailers. All-in-all, the Teclast T40 HD is worth the price thanks to its plentiful storage and long runtimes, however, it is more suited towards indoor use, as its display is too dim to use outside.
