HarmonyOS 4 rolling out to more Huawei smartwatches in new beta
Huawei has announced a HarmonyOS 4 beta in China, bringing the latest software to older smartwatches. The new operating system was pushed to the Watch 4 Pro, the Watch GT 4 and the Watch 4 towards the end of last year. Now, users of the Huawei Watch 3, the Huawei Watch 3 Pro and the Huawei Watch 3 Pro New can sign up for a chance to get the update.
Customers in China can register their interest in the beta program for HarmonyOS 4 via the Upgrade section in the My Huawei app until January 9, with Huawei contacting successful applicants a week later. The company is looking for around 6,000 participants in the scheme, who will be asked to provide feedback on their experience with the software. The update includes a new live window feature, lock screen animations, and three-dimensional gaming watch faces. Alongside this, there will be further customization options for users and several more minor improvements to the wearables.
Huawei has also indicated plans to roll out HarmonyOS 4 to a broader range of devices this year. The list includes the Huawei Watch Ultimate, the Huawei Watch GT 3 and Huawei Watch Buds. It is unclear precisely when the HarmonyOS 4 update will roll out publicly and globally to Huawei Watch 3 series smartwatches.
