Leak reveals the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5 as a particularly compact, extremely robust tablet with 5 nm SoC
Samsung will soon introduce a more compact Galaxy Tab Active5 alongside the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro, according to initial images and details published by MSPowerUser. The Galaxy Tab Active5 features an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200, which can be operated with a stylus that, like the tablet, is IP68-certified and thus waterproof.
The tablet measures 21.4 x 12.7 x 1.01 centimeters and weighs 433 grams. The housing is MIL-STD-810H certified, and the protective cover supplied is designed to withstand drops from a height of up to 1.2 meters. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the display from scratches. To simplify operation with the stylus while wearing gloves, Samsung has installed traditional navigation buttons and a programmable function button on the right-hand side.
A USB-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack can be found on the underside. At 5050 mAh, the battery is hardly larger than those of many smartphones, but supposedly still provides enough power for 16 hours of video streaming, 15 hours of web surfing and 33 hours of LTE calls. Samsung has installed a 5 MP front camera and a 13 MP f/1.9 main camera that can record 4K videos.
A particular highlight is the Samsung Exynos 1380, a modern 5 nm ARM chip from the previous year, which has four powerful ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores with clock frequencies of up to 2.4 GHz and four economical Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2.0 GHz. It also has 4 GB to 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB to 128 GB of flash storage, which can be expanded via a microSD memory card. The tablet has a 5G modem, a fingerprint sensor and Android 12.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 is set to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks.
